jab attacking a character on a platform will lead them to fall off the edge similar to brawl. you can quickly fall down while using thunder jolt to lock them, or for some characters you can jab lock. some other characters can probably tech or do a very quick move. it also knocks them off the stage at the edge and can be followed up potentially.
side note: sometimes bowser and a few other characters have super armour against pikachus jab attack.
