iTunes' Home Sharing Led to a Missing Folder--Keeps Making My Mac Freeze

So today I was exploring the home sharing option with the computers in my house. I had tried this a few days ago and was able to give my mother a good deal of music. However, when I tried sharing some music with my father (who runs a Dell laptop), there were a few problems. Some of the files I may have deleted, but not taken out of iTunes. For unknown reasons either way the sharing of files was interrupted twice. Now, while I saw the files transferring, I decided to see what file types they were by opening up the music folder (this was a separate music folder than what iTunes normally uses, it was on my desktop instead). When I clicked on one of the albums I was giving my father, there did not appear to be any files in there. I went out of it regardless and figured I may have deleted all the files but neglected to actually delete the folder.

Now after the second error with transferring files, I decided to check something on my computer, but there was a problem. It was freezing. It seemed to have to do with just iTunes, and I later realized it was just that one artist. Later I narrowed it down to one song that I could delete, and another entire album that I could not delete. I tried deleting all I had of that artist--but it wouldn't let me empty the folder. Instead it gives me an error message that says something equivalent to not being able to delete the file because it can't read it or something. I neglected to take note of it. However, when I tried deleting the actual album's folder, it froze for a while, and then the folder simply disappeared. It did not end up in another folder on, or elsewhere on my desktop. It simply disappeared. Now however, when I try to do anything that -would- involve that folder, my computer freezes. That means if I try to play a song from that album, if I try to search my computer for 'Jeff Beck' (because I believe his name is in the title of the album), or open the folder of his albums, the computer freezes. Now, when I say freezes, it realistically freezes, but not entirely. I can still move my mouse, even when the clock stops. And, if I wait long enough (sometimes ten to twenty minutes for small responses), it will complete my actions. But it's simply running absolutely slowly.

What can I do to solve this and does anyone know how I caused it? I don't care if I lose the music. That's not my primary concern. I'm just trying to make sure my computer's intact and I don't need to be in fear of the 'shuffle' button on my iTunes. Thanks. I'm running Leopard, not Snow Leopard, by the way. If you have any other questions about my computer, feel free to ask and I'll give you the specifications.
