Of course you did. It's the 3DS version.
It has very few and limited single player modes who get repetitive the second time you play with them, and multiplayer sucks. What did you expect.
I consider the 3DS version just a simple way to have everything or almost everything already unlocked when the true Smash Bros. gets released on WiiU.

They honestly should have just focused on the Wii U version, IMO. I mean, the Wii U one probably has the most content and is the full experience.

Reminder that Japan is slowly turning into a handheld/mobile only country, and we may only get portable Smashes from now on.

Hopefully not for a long time, but I can definitely see Nintendo making one powerful handheld and focus all efforts on that.

I am still unlocking challenges, so I still got a month to do stuff, but I agree I think I'm done with playing online seriously because the 3DS just doesn't control as well. I think that they should've just made the home console version though.

Why would Nintendo just focus on a handheld market? That'd be bad, I think Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo's competition is good for the industry.

I don't think they'd make just a handheld Smash game. That'd suck.

Because Nintendo's handhelds are almost always 100% successful, Japan has stopped buying home consoles for the most part because they can play games on the train anyway on their phone. Meanwhile America and the West is much more evened out, with mobile being more of a casual gamer's thing.

I don't think this will happen, at least not for a very long time (like 5 console generations) if it even DOES happen, but if Nintendo decides to focus on one handheld they can basically 100% guarantee success, rather than making a home console that will be laughed at in comparison to playstation and Xbox for being kiddy in the west, even if they make one more powerful than them.

Like I said, I don't think it will happen, but if it does I won't be surprised.

I don't know, to each is own but this has been the best Smash Brothers installation to date for me. I've "only" logged 80 hours so maybe I haven't had a chance to get bored yet, but I got pretty much what I wanted in a mobile Smash Bros.

Online is viable and only about 20-25% too laggy to the point of irritation for me

I can play with friends at a restaurant, which has never been possible in Smash before.

I can focus on unlocking custom moves to then use on the Wii U's more extensive content/Amiibos (again, $20 more)

The matches I have had on this handheld have greatly surpassed all my non-modded Brawl matches in terms of fun and competitiveness.

I get the Wii U version will be more desirable, Smash works better overall on a console as it stands with current (Nintendo) technology. But to even consider that they should have just ignored a 3DS Smash is...Surprising? Like what I am not getting is what magic is the Wii U version going to throw at you that will make it IMMENSELY more superior than the 3DS version that we didn't already know?

We knew the Wii U version would be a more fulfilling experience because of the new tech, larger screen and controls. We knew that there would be more content because it was held back later and they can cram more data in to the console version. So then....What did you expect from the 3DS version?

It would be misleading and unfair to toss it out as a watered down Smash Wii U. That's not fair to the concept of a mobile smash brothers. Some balls were dropped (Smash Run, the exclusive feature of the 3DS, not being online really is counterintuitive), I just hope people at least appreciate what we were given here. And outside of the lack of friend-adding, I do not see a problem with the online.

Yeah, that's true. The point is, Smash for Wii U is gonna be a good experience (most likely), even if Nintendo isn't making a ton off of the console itself. I mean, the Wii U isn't selling well (which is a shame, really, considering it's a fun console from my experiences with it, and I'm glad I own it), but Nintendo obviously still has SOME faith in Smash doing well on it, considering they're making a console Smash again.

Also, the problem is that Nintendo isn't being laughed at for being kiddy, they're being laughed at for their inferior online infrastructure, the lack of marketing of the Wii U, etc. That being said, I still like Nintendo's console.

Like you said though, I don't think we'll be getting a handheld only Smash. That'd be dumb.

I think the only thing that has lowered the replay value for me, is that I can't just play it with any friends with a separate controller. It has to be with someone who also has a 3DS or a separate internet connection. I know voice chat is good and all on another program, but it's not as fun when you cant shout, laugh or hit a person who's right next to you.

Not the games fault, though. Just makes it more of a solo experience, which to be honest has never been great in Smash.

I basically only want to play FG now. Classic is repetative and Smash Run is basically only against bots. I can play Melee Adventure Mode over and over, too. Even For Fun matches are only 2 minutes and are way too short for much fun to happen. Moving stages don't even get to go through one full cycle. Time limits are fine and make camping irrelivent but winning via kills instead of being the last person standing with stocks also screws over characters who have trouble killing.

I don't understand this sentiment, "If you play the game nonstop for 2 weeks, of course you'll get bored!"

You fellas must be new to the smash community. When Project M 3.0 came out, I played it nonstop for several months and I didn't stop because I was bored. I usually stopped because I was salty. In Smash 3DS, I unlocked all the characters and don't care to pick it up unless my brother in another state wants to play.

I think those who are let down or hating the 3DS version may be quite let down when the Wii U version,drops...... It will be different but not as.different.as some of you are hyping it to be. Luckily I own the "incomplete lackluster training wheels version of Smash lite" and can afford the Wii U for Smash 4 U, because before the new Smash I had no desire to buy Wii U except Zelda games and Smash obviously

I think the proliferation of the New 3DS and the C-stick it brings will honestly help prop up and legitimize the hand-held community, even if it will take some widespread adoption. Still though, I have no plans to buy a Wii U in the near future, so maybe this is me being optimistic.

Really? I can't put the game down. Every day I play a new character and try to get better at them, going into for glory and getting my ass handed to me. Idk smash is my favorite fighting game ever and I love how viable all the characters are. Honestly I didn't just buy the game because of the hype. I bought it because I knew it would be a game I could put tons of hours into. I already have 120 hours in it while still having school and ****.

120 hours? How did you play it for that long without getting bored of it?

To be fair, I don't think many people in the forums bought it due to hype...

120 hours in a smash game isn't very much what-so-ever.

While I'm of the opinion that this game isn't as exciting as other the smash games were at launch, I will say that if you can't at least enjoy 100+ hours of this game, then you might not be compatible with this series.

I remember playing Brawl 10 times as much in its first 5 months and now I won't even touch the game...

I mostly got to 100+ hours in Brawl by playing with friends/family. In my opinion, playing Smash by yourself isn't really fun. The heart of the fun is with other people. To me.

Anyway, as we all figured, the 3DS version is crapped on by the Wii U one. I mean, no offense to anyone who adores it, but what WAS the point of the 3DS version, really? Considering the Wii U has eight player battles, better graphics, etc.?

Not trying to start a fight, but just saying.

I don't think I came off as abrasive.

Anyways...

To me, smash games without the competitive aspects simply isn't fun. Smash 3DS seems competitive enough but so far I haven't developed that competitive spirit and urge to triumph over my local community like I did when Brawl came out.

I told ya man, I seriously love the series. I grew up on 64 with my older brother beating the snot out of me and have wanted to get better ever since, and once I found melee had a competitive scene and you could play on netplay I was 100% hooked.

Also I don't see any flaws with the 3ds version. It has everything I wanted from it, which is mostly just for glory and a ranking system. And the fact that I travel with family a lot so its good for long drives, places with no internet, ect.
