Ithaca Smashers

Yo. I'm starting to get into competitive melee. I just started school up at Ithaca College and am looking for some kind of competitive smash scene in the area. I just want to improve, meet new players and play good people.

Upstate hasn't been very active lately. There's a tournament I'm probably headed to in Cicero (Northern Syracuse) that will have melee and brawl, its date is 10/19 here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/events/268951946577309/

Other than that, we can try and set up a Smashfest somewhere if there's enough interested. Smash 4 is coming soon so hopefully we'll see a growth in activity, but I'm in the same boat as you where I haven't actually played people outside of my immediate area, and most are just my friends.

funny story. the best smash player in upstate new york goes to ithaca college. he hasnt been to a tournament in a year or two tho. his name is sanford johnson. engineering major and mains ike.

As far as Melee goes, Icer is a Cornell student and he's solid.

Lol you blew your chance. A top 5 in the world 64 player attended Cornell up until recently. Unfortunately atleast speaking for the the rest of upstate we dont play too much 64.

So I've recently found a pretty good melee player at Ithaca College that I play on a regular basis now. He claims he usually places in top 10 at small locals and appears to know several very skilled players (confirmed this when I went to Game Over 11 back in Boston and saw him talk to players I recognize from recent tourney videos like MattDotZeb, Irish Mafia, and others). Anyone in the Ithaca area playing melee on a competitive level looking to improve, meet other players or whatever is welcome to join us. Just PM me and we'll figure it out.

I just got to Cornell and am looking for smash 64 players. Apex 2014 is the only tournament I have been to and I placed 65th, however I've gotten much better since then.
