Just yesterday this game was announced for the Wii:

This is an olympics game featuring sonic and mario, meaning they are both in the game together. This being the first game with both characters that there is no stigmatism against making a crossover with the too. Thats exhibit one, but that proves nothing. Just increases our hope.
Well, the person who runs the Wii board on ign, Matt C. has known to be really knowledgeable of nintendo's secrets. Fanboys trust him as the most "inside man" in the journalistic world when it comes to Nintendo. He was the one who got an exclusive preview of the Wii before the controller was announced, and was able to publish huge material the very moment it was revealed to the world, and he also knew Zelda TP was being announced in the E3 that it was announced which surprised everyone. He's very knowledgeable about Nintendo and knows MANY secrets.
Here's the most recent post from his blog. (just the last part of hte post)

I think some of you were expecting a Mario and Sonic platformer of some sort, but really, this title makes much more sense to me. It is, when you break it down, Wii Sports + Olympics + Mario + Sonic + online. What the hell is not to like about that? This game could very well be the next biggest thing since Wii Sports. Do not downplay its existence. If it is done right, it could be one of Wii's best-sellers of the year.
Some gamers also seem to have missed out on the significance of this announcement. Nintendo and SEGA are actively working together on a cross-license product. Do you honestly believe that Sonic won't be in Super Smash Bros. Brawl at this point? Of course he will! It would be an injustice if the mascot wasn't.
Am I the only one excited about this project?
Remember this is no ordinary fanboy just claiming things on the internet. He's the online journalist of the nintendo faction of ign.
