But there are several arguments that suggest that the leak is legitimate after all:

None of this is surefire proof that it's not fake, but it's enough to not completely write if off imo.

All that was confirmed was that the website was registered/updated two days ago. The OP in the linked thread says that there's a lot of evidence that it has been around since longer than that, and that websites like these just have a habit of moving to a new domain after scheduled intervals.

"Robin" is Isaac japanese name and"Mute" seems to be golden sun's Mathew japanese name (echo?). Shizue is actually isabelle, Stark Kid is Skull Kid... etc...

The only wtf characters would be maholor and prince, but we know that sakurai likes prince and maholor seems to be stupid popular in japan...

for now i'm filing this in the "too good to be true" section...

I thought the same things when everyone was saying it was disproved, so I visited 5chan to verify.

Unfortunately, the Smash SPECIAL (Ultimate’s JP name) thread the leak was supposedly on appears to have been created circa June, so that renders the post impossible and thus fake.

Still, I ask of anyone who is better-versed in those boards to double check, just in case my dumb ass missed something. I’d want nothing more than to be proven wrong on this.

Otherwise, don't try and stop the discussion yourself(unless you can provide a very legitimate reason why the leak is 100% fake, instead of just your opinion). It has everyone I want and then some (except for Shadow), but I think this is definitely a case of too good to be true.

Counting ones already confirmed, this is 13 unique newcomers and 7 echoes (under the assumption of Dixie being Echo). I find it hard to believe we have 9 more unique newcomers to be revealed, especially on the assumption that they all get reveal trailers. And the lack of a new Pokemon with this many newcomers seems very questionable.

No. Because nobody is attempting to do that at all. Saying there's good reason to believe it's not dead isn't false hope. It's using evidence to provide a fruitful discussion.
