With all the support K. Rool has, I wonder why he hasn't been added to any Smash games yet. I mean, a lot of people love him, and I see his name everywhere these days, so it just makes me wonder what kept him out of SSB4's roster in the first place (or any Smash game, really). I'm glad to see that Isaac is doing so well (or so it seems, anyway). I hope that Isaac won't be overshadowed by the large support for K. Rool and Sakurai acknowledges how popular of a request he is. Just give me Isaac and I won't mind anyone else being added (yes, I realize this sounds selfish, but I'd be highly upset if Isaac is passed up again).
This isn't to say that K. Rool is directly competing with Isaac for a spot or anything, I just wish that Isaac had the same kind of support that K. Rool has. (By that, I mean almost everyone voting for him). In any case, I hope they both make it. That way I can be happy while also being happy for everyone else.
What kept K. Rool out of the SSB4 roster was the lack of a recent appearance, that factor was very important this time around. What kept him out of Brawl was the fact that it's uncommon for a series to receive two original characters in a single game.
Now why Dixie was also omitted this time around is anyone's guess. Maybe she was intended at one point, that wouldn't surprise me.
And yeah it'd be nice if Isaac had the popularity K. Rool does, but second is nothing to scoff at either, it's pretty darn good for a character in his situation.
Bandana Dee is pretty popular on Japanese Miiverse, from what I've heard. His thread would probably know more, though.
If I had any post-ballot Japanese results I'd definitely post them. And not to say their claims are untrue, but the Bandana Dee thread
would claim he's popular there... I'd rather get it from a less biased source.
I mean, even in
this poll that you linked, Nintendo newcomers go K. Rool/Isaac/Inkling/Waluigi/Paper Mario/Ridley/Wonder Red/Bandana Dee/Dixie Kong. So when you remove Waluigi and Ridley (active role), Paper Mario and Wonder Red are the only outliers on the ones I mentioned before. The Tumblr poll is similar, from an initial glance.
Comparatively he's not unpopular sure, but putting him in the same category as K. Rool and Isaac and Inkling, or at least the latter two, which is what a lot of people do, isn't exactly painting the most accurate of pictures.
Also, Smashboards is still the biggest Smash site on the internet, so it's a pretty good aggregate overall, even if it's not alone.
Biggest site dedicated solely to Smash yes, that doesn't mean it would provide the biggest sample size. There isn't even any (notable) poll from this site (unless I missed it), the reddit one has over 13000 unique voters that weighed in on it. Smashboards is one of the larger pieces of the community, but in a total aggregate it's still one of many.
@
N30N, if you disagree, who do
you think are the most popular Nintendo newcomers?
I think anyone other than K. Rool, Isaac, and Inkling are in a category notably lower.
Yeah, sometimes I think the results are somewhat distorted. If I were to go on a Golden Sun forum and post a poll there, of course Isaac would win by a landslide. However, it serves to be no indication of what the actual ballot is composed of, so there is no real way to tell what the majority is voting for. We (Smashboards, or any other online community) are not the only ones voting.
You're right, but it's the best we've got. It's not no indication, because unlike Smash's total audience the people that actively contribute to the ballot are by and large more dedicated than the average consumer, but it's still hardly made up solely of those that are regularly contributing to the discussion of Smash and those that will care to share who they voted for.
Just assume there are more votes going towards Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Sonic and other third-party characters than what is represented in the polls, because those are generally the ones the masses lean towards.
