Is this useful/known?

I decided to start learning Snake, so I was reading a few threads about grenade tactics/mindgames, and while practicing them, I noticed that I did something I didn't see mentioned in the topic.

Everyone and their mom knows that most grenade tricks revolve around shield dropping, but you drop on a grab also. Is there any practical reason to do this? Is it common knowledge?

I sincerely apologize if this is stupid, or if there was already a topic, but I didn't notice it in either of the grenade topics I read that were in the links thread. I also didn't see a Q/A thread to post this in. Again, disregard if this is common.

Also, if you shield drop, grab then throw, you can throw much further than a standard grenade throw. Shield dropping also prevents enemies from picking up grenades (grenade stripping)
