Is this a legal technique?

So let me make a scenario like there's only a few seconds left and you have a lower percentage than your opponent. If you catch them in a sing near the ledge and keep ledge dropping -> jump -> sing -> regrab ledge then keep repeating until the timer runs out you win. Is this legal?

In all tournament rulesets I've seen, this isn't given its own rule and is therefore covered under the general (and vague) "no stalling" clause. Unfortunately, this means that the maximum amount of time you're allowed to do it for is "not too long" (at the TO's discretion).

There's not really any way this strategy could turn out well for you, since you have no reliable way of knowing in advance whether your opponent will dispute it nor what the TO's judgement will be unless you push it really far to the point where it's obvious; stalling for a whole minute is clearly not going to be allowed, but anything could happen if you do it for 10 seconds.

You'd probably be better off dropping down --> regrab, or if its DL, FD, or BF, just go under the stage for the last few seconds (They can punish you when you reach the other side, unless you run out of time before you reach the other side.) Though generally if there's only a few seconds left on the clock, one party would almost have to have been employing a stall/camping technique to begin with.

I'd classify it as stalling if it was done for longer than a minute, but with emphasis on whether the intention was to stall the match or if they had been playing the ledge for this purpose. If it's for 20 seconds at the end of a match, you got outplayed imo. It is a true infinite though, so if jiggs players want to be grimy, there would be rules for it.

This is called sing-stalling and it is a clear instance of excessive match stalling, it is illegal for the same way as excessive wobbling is for ICs.

Ending a match in the last few seconds this way probably won't get you DQ'd or anything, but spending more than 30 seconds doing it is definitely going to get the crowd against you at the least, and at the most DQ'd.

You can just rest them if they're asleep anyway, there's not even a reason to stall.
