Is there a worse design choice in Smash history than the K.O. bar?

The thing about Mac and the KO Punch is that it balances out Mac's vulnerability to gimps by giving him a way to take stocks just as easily. If Mac's able to avoid bad situations and early gimps he gets rewarded. It's important for Mac because it means he still has a chance even if he gets KO'd quickly. It's an important part of making the character work and can lead to some very exciting competitive situations.

KO Punch meter isn't accurate to the games and I know it's based on the Uppercut from Super Punch Out where if you got hit the meter would decrease instead of increase. It only increased if you landed hits on a boxer. So yeah. Accuracy for ya.

Yeah, it sucks how inaccurate the KO Punch is to the mechanics of Super Punch Out.

So, I was playing Super Mario World, and man, it's great how you can double jump, use the fire and cape power ups at the same time, use them even after you get hit, and especially how you can punch enemies rather than jump on them. Because accuracy means 1:1 gameplay between Smash Bros and a character's series or origin.

A lot of characters have inaccurate portrayals to fit the mold of Smash Bros. Too many to list.

To answer the question of whether the KO meter is the worst design choice in the history of Smash, I can only respond with :pichumelee:.

Random Tripping was so much worse, the KO Punch does not even get close.

Besides how does KO Punch reward bad playing?
If you play good you get the KO Punch at low %.
If you play medium you get the KO Punch at high %.
If you play bad you get gimped and the meter resets before you get the KO Punch.

Siding with this man.

KO Punch is NOTHING, it's a free KO if you don't get bopped off the stage really fast. You have to be in control to even THINK of using it, honestly.

Sheesh, how come every time I come into the Little Mac forums, threads like this pops up on the radar?

Either you kill Little Mac as many times as you can to reset his K.O. meter or you can have yourself a taste of that K.O. Uppercut without making excuses for your own mistakes. I mean really, plain and simple.

Or you can wait 6 seconds and bop him once or grab him and his KO Punch is gone. Of course really good Little Mac's are nigh untouchable if they know what they are doing.
