I have actually googled this question, only getting to some dubius pages talking about some imaginary tierlists - but id like to know if the game tries to place me in online matches against somehow even enemies, or if its completely random who my enemy is. Many games are kind of even, but there are couple of games where i get horribly crushed or the enemies dont stand a single chance.
Either way would be fine, im just interested if having a ~50% winratio shows that i am round about as good as equal oppononts, of if downright 50% of the playerbase are better than me.
peace,
Shiny

There's "some kind" of matchmaking system according to Sakurai. Pretty confident it exists since I don't get stuck with complete noobs that often.

With my experience in For Glory (~3000 matches between Wii U ande 3DS) it seems to be entirely random. I haven't noticed any difference depending on which user account I use, which is what I assume they would base the ranking on. The only thing that points towards a matchmaking system from my PoV is the tendency to rejoin the same player if you quit and go back to 1v1 immediately. The time of day seems to act as a good sort of "matchmaking" system though, with the later you stay up putting you against tougher opponents.

Alright thank you, at the very start of playing i thought the medals are some kind of indicator, before i realized they disappear after each session and you have to start from scratch. Well, its a bit sad that you cant put a finger on the matter, but thats okay. guess that kinda-sorta means that i really am as bad as my %. Need to keep up my training ~~

Training is good, but don't look to your win% to determine how good you are at the game. The only thing you should look to it for is for how much you are learning. Get HYPE when you see those numbers drop to 20% for the last 100 matches, because that means you learned a metric gigaton over the last 100 games.

As someone who's started playing competitively only recently, but is extremely dedicated to getting better, I can definitely say I've noticed a difference.

When I first started playing For Glory, my matchups felt much more even. "Lil' Mac skrubs" who'd kick my rear until they unfortunately used their side-special off an edge and give me a free match, for instance. Everyone would just spam rolls(including myself) and never really use grabs.

Now in days, on the very rear occurrence I do fight a Little Mac, they're pretty skilled. Most people I fight now-in-days are skilled. They roll carefully, they punish well, they leave few opponents, they never spam, and they all seem to have a developed play style. There is great variance between the skill levels of the people I face; but I hardly ever fight "noobs" these days.

It feels as if my opponents are improving as I am.
