Smash Wii U Is the Gamecube Controller Adapter Region Locked?

Hi, I just ordered a Gamecube Controller Adapter off of Amazon UK a couple days ago (when they still were offering pre-orders) and I live in the USA. I was wondering if they were region locked? I know that isn't the case with most accessories, but I was just wondering. I've talked to many people, and they have said that the adapter should not be region locked, and one guy tested out his USA adapter on his European wii u, and said it worked. However, Nintendo Life just posted an article that said that the adapter WAS region locked.

"We should add that the adapter appears to have region-specific versions (all sold out on Play-Asia, it should be added), though as the controllers are global we can't envisage compatibility issues with an adapter; it's the adapter's region that must match your system."

So I just want a little clarification on this topic, so that I know if I should cancel my pre-order. Like I said, other people have said that it is NOT region locked, but they don't write for a huge website. Thanks!

So what if they do. Those sites often lie or get things wrong. It's either officially confirmed by Nintendo or it is unofficially said by someone else.
The word is they are not region locked. But Nintendo has not officially said yet.

I keep seeing SOOOO many different opinions. I just really don't want to have my money wasted, and come Christmas morning, I can't play Smash with my family. It WAS an extra 12 bucks after all to import. (Which is a bargain in my eyes.) Most people have said that accessories are not region locked, but then again, I doubt they have imported one, because they say accessories in general, and not specifically the adapter. I've seen one person who's import worked, and one website who says it doesn't work. AHHH this thing is so freaking confusing! Thank you for replying though! You've boosted my confidence!

You cannot region lock a usb port. There is no actual software inside that adapter, no worries! Same with controllers. Any wired controller works in any region.

It would be IMPOSSIBLE to region lock an adapter unless if it had a copy protection chip in it. It should work fine. I think that Nintendo Life statement was a hoax possibly to piss people off.
