Is the 3DS Version Holding the Wii U Version Back?

Is the potential that the Wii U version has being restricted by the 3DS version? We all know how both games will have the same characters, I definetly think there would have been more characters in the Wii U version if it was a stand-alone game. But are the other aspects being restricted too? I feel like they cannot go all out because it would leave the 3DS version looking like garbage. I would love for Nintendo and Sakurai to prove me wrong, but I don't see that happening right now.

But they made a Wii U version because they couldn't do everything they wanted to do with the 3ds version. In what way is it holding back the wii u version? Smash has always been on home consoles so a wii u version was inevitable. It's not the 3ds' fault that the wii u version has better local multiplayer, better online features, better graphics and more exclusive modes. The 3ds' limitations are holding itself back if anything.

He wanted the character rosters to be the same between the two versions, because he didn't want the 3DS version to be viewed as the inferior version, yet he had no problem with shortchanging the Wii U version to achieve this goal.

The 3DS version did indeed hold back Ice Climbers' inclusion. Sakurai said himself Icies were cut because it wouldn't work on the 3DS version.

Technically speaking there isn't supposed to be a Wii U version as Sakurai wanted the fourth game to be handheld exclusive (thus saying **** you to his entire audience, but that's neither here nor there) so, no.

But if, let's say; the Wii U version was the original intent, yes.
The roster would assumingly be larger for one.

Honestly, since apparently the WiiU version wasn't supposed to exist, it shouldn't be a problem for the 3DS version for 'holding it back'. Plus the only character it held back was Ice Climbers.

Wii u is selling LESS than the 3ds and probably will sell less copies. They made the wii u version for sales purposes.
Also sakurai said that there will be verison exclusive characters so no ice climbers.

Don't be relieved so soon, if the Wii U version sells poorly you can be sure the next generation Smash will only be on handheld.

Ok so he may have said he wanted to do the game only on the 3DS. But could any of you honestly have told me Nintendo wouldn't release a new Smash Bros on its next home console?

The fact that Sakurai even considered doing is a joke. Every Nintendo home console that comes out will have a new iteration of Smash to go with it until Sakurai decides to discontinue the series.

Lolwhut. The WiiU version is king how? I bear no bias to either version, but so far the 3DS has more modes and features. You proclaim it's "King" when the game hasn't even come out yet. Overall they are same game, also how does the 3DS suck, because you don't have one? Or you haven't played good games for it? Yes, please just judge things without experiencing them.
