So yeah, basically he doesn't think of it right now. In another interview he does praise Fallout 3's way of doing DLC (which I don't know how works), so it doesn't seem like he's against DLC at the very least.Sakurai said:At the current time we have no plans. I consider my job at this point, and my main responsibility, to make the Wii U and 3DS versions the best and the fullest experience possible. That said, once finished, it's the type of thing we could take into consideration, but for now, you could consider DLC as not being in the cards.
I just don't want to have to pay for more characters. it wouldn't feel like SSB. plus, how would that effect the competitive scene? Why stages and costumes, but not characters? Characters are what a fighting game should focus on the most. It'd not make sense if Sakurai had dlc stages and not characters.
Wouldn't stages also effect the competitive scene, too? I mean, not as much as characters, but say there's a new stage that wasn't banned, and was counter-pick. So now most people who go on tournaments don't know what to except, meanwhile the guys who counter-picked the stage suddenly has a huge advantage to the person who didn't try out the dlc.I just don't want to have to pay for more characters. it wouldn't feel like SSB. plus, how would that effect the competitive scene?

They aren't constantly working on Smash games in between the games. Work on Brawl finished up in January 2008, maybe December 2007, and work on Smash 4 only began February 2012. That's a pretty big gap of nothing where I think a few new additions could have helped keep the game fresh. Plus, there's no telling if Namco's even going to be on board for the next game, so those resources are pretty much best spend making Smash 4 the best possible game. They shouldn't add any characters as DLC, all those resources and effort should be towards making the next game even better.
Well that's stupid on your part, they're not making you pay to have a complete game, you already bought the complete game...they're making you pay for adding even MORE to the game, extra, additional, optional...etc. EA does do the "complete your game with DLC" thing, but we're talking about Nintendo!Maybe some retro stages. I like the old-school philosophy of shipping a complete game. Maybe I'm just an old crank, but I already shelled out 50 bucks for your game, and now you're gonna make me pay another 15 to get the rest of the characters? Then next year, if you go the Netherrealm route, you're just going to release a discounted version with all the DLC characters already included?
This isn't just for Smash. This is how I feel about DLC in general.

Yeah, well, that 'DLC is only for incomplete games' attitude's kinda harsh too. There are some people who believe all companies are evil and just want to suck the money out of their customers, but for example, look at the Fire Emblem Awakening DLC, it ADDS to the game, yet the game feels complete without it, it's a plus.Well, stupid is a bit harsh. I just don't like it is all.
