Is playing without UCF bad for tournaments?

Hi, I apologize if this is the wrong place for this question; I am new to melee and the forums in general.

I have been playing with nintendont for a while and wanted to get a disk to minimize lag on my wii. Will it be disadvantageous to play without UCF and instead play vanilla melee? The tournaments in my region all use UCF. Thanks in advance.

UCF just makes it so that people with good controllers won't have an advantage over people with bad ones. Unless you are using a super good specially made controller, it won't have any effect on you.
