Just to verify though you
  • Are using a 7.92gb NTSC Brawl iso
  • Are using PM 3.02 Homebrew full set
  • Are using Dolphin revision 4.0-652 or 4.0-648
  • Are NOT using Gecko OS or any Winimage/virtual SD card stuff
Is this all correct?

Yeah, the ISO is 9.2gb. I used the one from your guide, so version 3.2. Dolphin version 4.0.2 though. Maybe this is the issue? I don't even know what the stuff at the end is about, followed your guide all the way through.
I'll download 4.0-652 immediately.
Edit: Wasn't the culprit. I got the same error at the same place.

Injected iso is from Y-L's guide right? That's what I tried.

Edit1: Oh, and if I pick another character, like Pit and Ice Climbers, it takes me here:

And then freezes. I can't press escape to get out, used Ctrl Alt Delete. When I pick Kirby, I have the same issue as with Mewtwo. Will try some more characters, maybe there's one I can play as.

Edit2: I get this error when booting up Dolphin, but I don't think it's related since I had this problem before I got the error, but I'll post it anyway. Bleach ftw.

Oh I didn't notice the wrong character select screen. It appears you did not move rsbe01.gct from the codes folder into the builder folder.

I remember I did though. Well, I replaced it with the homebrew one again, I probably clicked wrongly on something.

After replacing my rsbe01.gct and running the builder again it still froze at the char select, so I'm just going to delete everything excluding my iso, and download everything again. Probably some file misplaced I guess.

Edit: So, now I rebuilded my PM iso 3 times and it still has the same problem. Now, I happened to trip over a PM 3.0 iso when I was out, so I'll just use that. Hope this fixes things.

1. Download THIS. This is GeckoOS. put it along with your Brawl ISO and when you open Dolphin, set Brawl ISO as the default ISO, but whenever you play PM, you launch this WAD instead. It will show up in your dolphin list if you put it in the locaton you have set to search for ISOs.
2. Download THIS WAD to a seperat folder(so it doesnt show up in your list) and when you open Dolphin go to tools-Install WAD, and choose this one. Im not sure if this step is necessary, but got it from an online guide, and never really tested it without, so Id do it just incase.
3. Then download both Winimage and DolphinSD Card Maker. Use SD Card Maker to create a 2GB sd file. After that is done, put the SD file in User/Wii folder of dolphin. In Newer revisions of dolphin, settings are used from the folders in My Documents, but if you prefer to use the ones in dolphins program folder, just put a text file named 'portable' in the program folder. Then use winimage to put the Homebrew Full-Set ,From Project M's site, files into the sd file. make sure in Dolphins wii settings to check the box marked 'insert sd card'.
I've noticed Y-L prefers the Injected ISO method, but the SD method is much easier to modify in the future, as newer releases come out, or you want to add your own content.
Looked this thread through again, if I missed something cause it still doesn't work, and I wanted to try this method. The file for GeckoOS only seems outdated please post a new one?

Hmmm must be one of those weird sites that cycles urls :p...here
Thanks! Okay, so I think I followed all of your steps, but when I launch GeckoOS, the screen becomes dark-blue-ish. I'm pretty sure I've got all PM files on the SD card.
I checked Insert SD Card in Dolphin, and the card is 2GB.

hmmm, did you set the Brawl ISO as the default ISO? Also in GeckoOS set your hooktype in the Config Options to VBI.
EDIT: also please check to make sure the Brawl ISO is not the one you injected the files into. that could conflict.

Yeah forgot to mention I set my Brawl ISO to default. Not sure what you mean with hooktype, if it's an option in GeckoOs I can't change it anyway since GeckoOS doesn't start. I'll just post a pic of it, maybe you have seen it before.

I don't think I injected the files into the Brawl ISO, I just dragged my SD card into Winimage, and then dragged my files. After that I saved.

I'm really not sure, I'll try to research the issue but I can't promise anything. Also, just double checking, did you follow step 2 all the way through. by going to tools-Install WAD, and installing the file from below?

Yeah, Dolphin just doesn't confirm I installed the wad. I don't get a loading screen or anything after I clik on the WAD. Is that normal?

yea, thats ok, but knowing you followed all my steps, you followed all Y-Ls steps, and still nothing...I think your PC is cursed :p, but no seriously, Ill try to figure out what the problem is if I can.
EDIT: also this should not be relevant to the issue, but if you leave winimage open while trying to load the mod, itll just go into Brawl. Make sure winimage is closed before loading.

Jep, normal Brawl works just fine though. It seems the problem with this one is GeckoOs. I'll google for a bit if poeple had the same issue.
Edit: Couldn't find anything. Sooo frustrating that my wii is PAL -_-

The screen turns dark blue if you use it on the Netplay build. Use a stable or dev revision instead. Everything is set up right though.

Oh, I am using a Netplay version. This might be the cause, thanks I'll get another one.

Okay everyone THANK YOU for helping me through this mess. I can now play 1v1 matches w/o items 60fps. When I go to skyloft with 3 cpu's I get 30fps but it's not like I wanted to play that a lot so whateva.
The only thing that's frustrating is that I have 60fps, but still have audio lag! I can play Brawl with the audio not lagging at all, and though it doesn't matter a lot for gameplay, I would hate if I had to turn out my sound everytime I play PM :(.
So thanks guys, I can finally play this awesome game, except the sound thing :D

sorry the better alternatives aren't working for you, but atleast you have something :p
also again, if VBI is not your hook type, you will have audio issues, enable VBI hook type if you havent already.

I highly recommend this adapter. Refer to my guide to make sure you set it up correctly in dolphin. I still highly recommend you switch to injected iso so you can play online/have less lag/not have to boot through geckoOS though.

Yep, that's the one I ordered :D I have 2 controllers, so I can surprise my friend with this mod lol.
Less lag sounds pretty interesting though. I still have a little lag on certain large stages, though that could just be my cpu. Too bad it still doesn't work on my computer. Thx for the help though

I still find it strange that the injected iso method did not work for you.
I'll go ahead and post exactly what you should do

1) Extract the homebrew full set, iso builder, and winmd5.

2) Enter the homebrew folder and copy the projectm folder.

3) Go to the ISO Builder folder and paste the projectm folder in there.

4) Go back into the homebrew folder, go in the codes folder, and copy RSBE01.gct

5) Go back into the builder folder and paste RSBE01.gct, when prompted to replace, select copy and replace

6) Place your brawl iso in the builder folder

7) Your folder should now look like this, run the iso builder.

8) Use the settings 1,1,2,1, so that in the review it looks exactly like this.

9) When it's all done you should have your Project M iso (ProjectM_RSBEPM_K-sav.iso) in the folder, That is your Project M iso.

10) Verify the md5 checksum using winmd5 on your new Project M iso, if it's correct (6c00d1da03cd256eb77066e628aad92d), set up Dolphin and you're good to go!

Okay, I finally have some time and I'll make sure to do this exactly as you say.
Edit: This is the way my builder folder looks. I replaced my RSBE01 folder in the builder folder with the one from my Project M homebrew full set folder.
I can go ahead and run the builder now, right? The frustrating thing is that I did the same thing 2 times before :(.
