Smash 3DS Is Chain Chomp an assist trophy in this version?

OK, so Chain Chomp is supposed to be an assist trophy in the game. We know that we saw it for the Wii U version. If not watch right here:

As I've been playing with Assist Trophies, I have noticed that not one Chain Chomp has not yet graced me with an appearance. Further cementing evidence that it isn't an assist trophy, there is no Chain Chomp icon listed with the rest of the assist trophies in the online profile options (yes I unlocked them all, I got the message).

However what is interesting is that I got a tip while waiting for an opponent in a For Glory battle. I didn't catch all of it and because it happened so quickly, I couldn't get a snap shot. However, I know that this was not the same tip for Chain Chomp in Smash Run.

So, has anyone else seen it the tip or even been graced by Chain Chomp as an assist? Wii U only or a removed assist? Could this mean more assists will be only available for the Wii U? (If taking what Sakurai said in the April direct, then yes).

I'm 99% sure that I saw a Chain Chomp while I was playing the 3DS demo before the actual game came out. I remember because the damn thing spawned at the edge of battle field, and fell off for a second, then vaulted itself up and KOed the villager. That being said, I have not seen it in the actual game, only in the demo.

Yeah he's in. He is also an annoying enemy in Smash Run also.

Yeah he's actually the mario series AT I get more often, he's also an enemy in smash run, reallllly annoying

Yeah, he's an AT (and Smash Run enemy). He showed up a couple times for me.
