What are some good ways to practice to get better at the game? I usually go to trainning mode and practice Z canceling and I noticed I've gotten much better against my friends. I was wondering if anyone else had any tips to increase skill level.

try to do combos you see in combo videos in training mode... you'll start to understand the game better.

You can also see some of the videos with your friends, after they see the things an expert can do with their mains, they will hopefully try to get better and push the bar a little higher.

I know I freaked out the first time I saw an Isai video.

The grabs are insane in Smash64! Try useing ur grab move more often, it will knock back ur enemy a great distance.

Play online with other people. Training mode combos (make them unique) and fiddle around with other things in training mode. Just have fun with the game and you will gradually become better.

If the AI was better id tell you to play a 99 Stock match against Lvl. 9 but alas AI does not compare to humans so play online A LOT.

I know I freaked out the first time I saw an Isai video.

Mindgames are more important than combos. But if you have both combos and mindgames then you'll be good to go.
