incorporating shine comboes into my game

so recently i was watching a tourney match of mew2king's fox and the announcer said he didn't understand why mew2 didn't go for a shine combo on marth instead of the upthrow to upair..

anyways, my gameplay rarely ever uses the shines for fancy comboes other than to put pressure and grab..against peach or a floaty i might do a waveshine to upsmash, but in general i rarely use it

where should i incorporate it into my gameplay? is it good as a finisher? so mainly after marth is above 80% or whenever the hell it is that he can jump out of my throw to upairs..it may be earlier..then i should switch to waveshine to upsmash?

anyways, thanks for any advice, the main moves i feel i underuse are shine to upsmash and downtilt with fox

fancier shine combos often rack up damage on opponents when they're at low>medium, but aren't necessary. probably my favorite way to finish a waveshinable char is drillshine>wavesmash. (although i'm not good at doing it against marth, idk if you can if they DI away). But shine combos are used for racking up damage, taking control of a match, and killing your opponent. If you catch a peach, say, with a shine, you can rack up 40% easy w/ drillshines at any percent, and then usmash. while i always try to go until i can't anymore, i'd only recomend hitting them w/ about 30-40%> usmash, cause that will kill peach starting at 10-20% and sheik at 35-45%. You can start shine combos if you hit them w/ a shine after aerialing their shield. Hope this helps.

oh one more question...just curious..um, what happens if you tech in place against a fox/falco who planned to dsmash you if you flubbed your tech? will the dsmash miss or hit you? i mean, i almost always tech to the sides on a dthrow because my friends always seem to try for that dsmash...guess they aren't that good at techchasing or something because they don't get me much..and i don't dthrow much myself..should I?

if you're fox, you can't tech the dthrow on falco until larger %s, but then you can't tech in time to avoid the dsmash anyway. but on other attacks that they smash in case you don't tech, it depends on their timing, if they do it really fast, your tech invincibility will avoid the smash, if they wait, it might not. It's really situational. I'm not a fan of fox's/falco's dthrows.

so should i tech in place ot mix it up or not? how much is techchasing a threat to me when playing against fox or falco...it didn't even occur to me till today that i don't really know if they can techchase well..i techchase fox/falco when playing sheik..but i've never tried dthrow in my fox vs falco dittos..chainthrow is so much nicer...and falco vs falco...hmm, i guess i upthrow or side throw a lot there..rarely the dthrow

so anywaysy from what you said i'm gathering that when i'm playing vs a fox i should use dthrow more..well at least as falco who rarely has better options.

anywyas, tomorrow when i get to play i try techchasing from a dthrow...

edit: so it's not possible to techchase a dthrow because of the lag...or so i'm told..that makes sense..which is why i don't remember anyone doing such:p

with falco it isn't really an option. w/ fox it is doable on some characters, but not advisable. the only time i use fox's dthrow is when floaties are at a really high percent, and i need to techchase a usmash, and u still have to guess where they're going to tech to...

even w/ falco, uthrow is better on fox/falco because you can combo off of it sometimes w/ a nair/shine/dair.

Just do whatever works man, mix it up.

ya, but with good di it's so hard to get more than one hit in off a throw..why do falco's throws suck so much. but i'm guessing even that one aerial has roughly the same damage as a dsmash so i should upthrow more than dthrow..except if i think it will kill of course:p

w/ falco, uthrow>nair>nair>dair. works on fox & falco, starting @ about 75-80% think.
