In regards to character victories

We have had a thread about which songs characters should have as a victory theme, but this thread is a bit different. I have two questions.

#1: Do you think we will unique themes for each character this time? To what extent?

#2: Will we have more context-sensitive voice lines? (like Fox and Falco in Brawl)

--

As for me. on the first question I would hope so. There is evidence on the Brawl disc to suggest several characters were to have unique victory fanfares, like we had with Meta Knight. This time they apparently finalized their roster sooner, so perhaps with the greater level of polish they will be able to work these into the product.

I think it would be great. Villains could take more menacing or extreme tones and instruments. Luigi's theme could have deliberate off-key notes, while a newer Fire Emblem character could utilize some modern liberties in orchestration for their theme in contrast to Marth's. Honestly I wouldn't mind if they started handing out 100% unique themes for characters, even within the same series. As it is, having the same theme song for Bowser and Mario is a bit strange.

As for the other question, it is a possibility. Not a lot of characters speak, so there is a limited pool to work from. That said, now that Marth has an international appearance, he will no doubt have an English VA in SSB4. Having that said, upon defeating another Fire Emblem character it wouldn't be a stretch for him to remark on his distaste for war. On the other end of the spectrum, I am sure other Fire Emblem characters would have something to say about defeating Marth. He's quite the legend. If Palutena shows up, I am sure there would be some banter between her and Pit, as well.

I hope that if you use certain teams (such as plautena and pit or pokemon trainer and pikachu) they have special dialouge.

Yes to both

I think the Main characters of the sereis should keep the old themes while the others get personalized ones.

Dialogue is a bit trickier as most Ninendo characters are of the silent variety.

Mario (against Bowser): So long King Bowser!
Luigi (against Mario): Luigi number one now!
Pokemon Trainer (Against Mewtow/Lucario): Never fought a Pokemon like that before!
Sonic (against Mario): Just like the old days.
Mega Man (against ROB): I got your Power!

Let me see, I'd like Dual Scream from Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon to become Luigi's victory theme. Also, here's some dialogue I wrote up:

Mario to Luigi: Maybe a-next time, bro!
Pokemon Trainer to Mewtwo: 150 down, only one Pokemon left to catch!
Pit to Palutena: Sorry, my lady. No hard feelings? Heh?

Peach against Mario.

"Who's the ***** now?"

As for victory animations, it would be sick if Mario just smashed into the ground wearing his cape causing the screen to shake like in Super Mario World or drifting on his hover car in reference to Mario Kart 8.

Captain Falcon can blow up a planet in the meantime.

A team of Jigglypuff and Pokémon Trainer wins against Ridley. Pokémon Trainer says:

She's a fairy! She's strong against dragons!

This is something I'd be interested in seeing, but I don't necessarily want it. I've never had a problem with characters from the same universe sharing victory themes, and I won't mind if that never changes.

OK, some more ideas:

Sonic to Mega Man: C'mon, I've seen robot ladybugs fiercer than you!
Sonic to Mario: Just remember, I do what you don't!

Peach to Bowser: A damsel in distress, huh?
Peach to Toad: You OK, little guy? You're welcome to come back if you want!

Meta Knight to Kirby: Next time we meet, bring a sword and we'll DUEL!
Meta Knight to Marth: An equal. Let us meet once again, possibly as allies.

Snake to Mega Man: A Metal Blade? Not my concern.
Snake to Zero Suit Samus/Wii Fit Trainer: Oh my god hotness I wanna bang you. (:awesome:)

Little Mac (Note: Doc Louis is featured in these victories as well, so he says these lines)

Little Mac to Captain Falcon: A Falcon Punch doesn't seem to match a Star Punch, huh Mac?
Little Mac to Sonic: The Fastest Thing Alive can't lay a finger on you, Mac. You're golden!

Well, I have no problem with different victory themes if they're distinct enough for the character they fit. Meta Knight, while fitting his character, was awkward as the only variation in the game while Kirby and Dedede are from the same series with a different theme. Apparently, Sakurai remixed this because their victory theme sounded too 'childish' for Meta Knight (hmmph hmmph, yeah.) Then there is that evidence on the Brawl disc with Roy and Mewtwo.

Character interactions are always exciting to see in a crossover. Two characters from different universes reacting to each other at their face value? Just look at how games like Marvel vs. Capcom 3 have fun with this. Just depends how they're implemented. Special intros? Taunts? KO quotes? Victory poses? Team pairs?

In fact, since I love to write about Nintendo so much, I'll have some fun with these:

[Collapse=Mario]To Bowser: You goin' down!
KO on Bowser: So long-a, Bowser!
To Luigi: Let'sa go, brother!
Defeat on Luigi: Better luck next time!
Defeat by Luigi: You the best! Haha!
On team with Luigi: (High five's Luigi) Bros to the end!
To Peach: ...Mama mia!
On team with Peach: (Holds Peach's hand and bows) Shall I have this battle, princess?
To Sonic: Just like old times.
Defeat by Mega Man: I'll get you next time, Mega Man.
To Donkey Kong: Hey! Come back here! You big-a monkey!
To Wario: Not you again.[/collapse]

[Collapse=Luigi]To Mario: M-M-Mario!?
Defeat on Mario: I did it! Wahoo!
Defeat by Mario: Sigh... I'll never be as good as my brother.
On team with Mario: (High five's Mario) Bros to the end!
To Peach: Luigi's to the rescue this time!
To Peach (Daisy palette swap): Um, I don't wanna fight you...
To Bowser: Hey! Don't-a make fun of me!
To Waluigi: Hey! I'm not that skinny![/collapse]

[Collapse=Peach]To Mario: Don't think you won't just let me win!
On team with Mario: (Blushes and giggles)
To Bowser: You're princess-napping days are over!
To Zelda: Let's see who's the fairer regal this time!
To Link, Marth, Chrom, Ike, Palutena: Excuse me, but might you be interested in a parley?
To Toon Link, Ness, or Lucas: Are you lost, child?
To Pikachu: Gasp! A Pikachu! I'm taking you home with me![/collapse]

[Collapse=Bowser]To Mario: (Does a mocking laugh.)
KO on Mario: Game over!
KO by Mario: (Does a panicked roar)
Defeat on Mario: Rest in peace!
On a team with Mario and Luigi: Suppose this isn't the last time.
To Luigi: Pathetic!
KO on Luigi: Mario's not here to fight your battles!
To Peach: There's no escape!
Defeat by Peach: Next time...
To Ganondorf: Get put in your place!
KO on Ganondorf: Get lost!
KO by Ganondorf: I'll make you know pain!
To Donkey Kong: Reserved to hero work, eh?
To King K. Rool: Bwahaha! What is this?
Defeat by King K. Rool: You're still a second banana!
To Wii Fit Trainer: The only burn you'll be feeling is my breath![/collapse]

[Collapse=Link]To Ganondorf, Ghirahim, or Skull Kid: (Via Navi when she comes out) Watch out!
To Zelda: (Does a nervous gulp)
To Toon Link: Eeeeyaaaaaah![/collapse]

[Collapse=Toon Link]To Ganondorf, Ghirahim, or Skull Kid: (Tetra's voice calls out from a glowing bottle as he stares at it intentively.)
To Zelda: Daaah!? (Jitters as he looks confused)
To Link: Eeeeeeyaaaaaah![/collapse]

[Collapse=Pikachu]To Samus: Piga piga pii! (Reclines in and shakes his head)
On team with Pokemon Trainer: Pika pi-kaaa! (Tumbles down from Red's Pokemon-Amie TLC)
To Pichu, Raichu, or Plusle & Minun: Piga pikachu! (Glares and hops angrily)[/collapse]

[Collapse=Kirby]To Meta Knight or King Dedede: Hmph! (Glares at Meta Knight before gesturing his block pose)
To Mega Man: (Suddenly blinks with a white flash and feels his Copy Abilties scroll through him. His eyes widden as he snaps out of it, looking confused at Mega Man.)[/collapse]

[Collapse=Donkey Kong]To Mario or King K. Rool: Oook oook ook! (Smacks his fists angrily)
To Diddy Kong or Dixie Kong: (Shrugs his arms)[/collapse]

[Collapse=Samus]To Ridley: It... can't be!
To Pit: You're mistaken. That infestation was my own problem.
To Captain Falcon: Keep your act up and I might just have a bounty on you.
To Snake: Mind taking that stare off me?[/collapse]

[Collapse=Fox]To Falco: This is gonna ruffle some feathers.
On a team with Falco: Let's take to the skies!
To Krystal: No need to be so cold. Gee!
On a team with Krystal:You're going to have to trust me on this one.
On a team with Falco and Krystal: Star Fox, move out!
To Wolf: Let's settle this once and for all!
Defeat on Wolf: And that's for siding with Andross!
To Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, Sonic, Muddy Mole, or Dillion: I'm always taking new recruits.[/collapse]

[Collapse=Pit]To Pit (Dark palette swap): Pittoo!
To Palutena: Don't worry, Palutena! The Chaos Kin won't harm you any longer!
To Magnus: I owe you this duel for having my back.
To Kirby or Bowser: Sorry, but angel wings won't be on the menu!
Defeat on Palutena: Oh geez, what have I done!?
On a team with Palutena: Aw yeah! Ready to kick some butt?
To Samus: I hear you're having a bit of a Komayto problem.
To Captain Falcon: Gasp! Can I autograph your fist!? Please!? PLEASE!?[/collapse]

[Collapse=Pikmin & Olimar]To Bowser, Donkey Kong, King Dedede, King K. Rool, Ganondorf, Charizard, or Ridley: (Pikmin peep and back up towards Olimar instinctively)[/collapse]

[Collapse=Villager]To Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, or King K. Rool: (Waves some bananas in front of him.)[/collapse]

[Collapse=Mega Man]To Kirby: (Looks at his arm and scrolls through a holographic display of his Robot Master powers)
To Samus: (Scans Samus, but comes up with an 'unknown' reading)[/collapse]

[Collapse=Sonic]To Mario: I won't stop till I'm on top!
Defeat by Mario: I gotta hand it to ya.
Defeat on Mario: Couldn't handle me after all, huh?
To Mega Man: Blur vs. Bomber? Okay![/collapse]

[Collapse=Wii Fit Trainer]General: Is your body ready?
Defeat on Kirby, Jigglypuff, King Dedede, and Wario: Runs for an hour a day to burn calories and improve your fitness age.
Defeat on Bowser, Donkey Kong, Ganondorf, King K. Rool, or Ridley: Rest for a while after a rigorous workout.
Defeat on Mario, Villager, Toon Link, Ness, Lucas, Little Mac, or Olimar: Eating a lean and protein-rich diet can help your body grow.
Defeat on Pikachu: Avoid excessive water intake.
Defeat on Samus: Change into comfortable clothes and stretch every now and then to prevent fatigue.
Defeat on Link, Marth, Chrom, Ike, Meta Knight, or Pit: Be mindful of cuts when engaging in swordplay.[/collapse]

[Collapse=BONUS - Pervy Snake Codes]
Snake: Octacon, Wii Fit Trainer took her clothes off.
Octacon: Yes!

Snake: Mei Ling, Wii Fit Trainer took her clothes off.
Mei Ling: Are you some kind of pervert!? I won't let you save your mission now!

Snake: Colonel, Wii Fit Trainer took her clothes off.
Colonel: Get back to the mission.[/collapse]

I think both are definitely possible; however, I really think both should be kept to a minimum.

The only characters I can really see having their own unique themes are the villains and anti-heroes, such as King Koopa, Ganon, Meta Knight, and Wolf. I would love for Koopa's victory theme to be this tune. Ganon's victory theme could be a shortened version of his main theme in the Zelda games. As for Wolf, his victory theme could be a lengthened form of the beginning portion of the Star Wolf theme (0:00 - 0:03).

[Shrugs] That being said, I will not complain if we do get more themes and interactive lines; either way is fine with me.

This sounds good. Ganon's victory could be the first three seconds of the song you said.

I've always liked the idea of individual victory themes, but I don't think EVERY character should have unique things to say to each other. It was cool when the Star Fox characters did it in Brawl, but if everyone did it, then it gets awkward when the characters who don't talk (or in some cases, CAN'T talk) either don't have anything to say or no way to retort. I mean, Fox can chit chat all day, but is Zelda going to have a text box at the bottom her victory screen?

They could just interact with facial expressions. For example, if Pikachu wins against Mewtwo, he looks very happy because he defeated a legendary Pokémon. And maybe a thinking ballon with what Pikachu is thinking.

Villager Ideas:

1. Villager runs around and catches a butterfly and he shows it off. In the animal crossing series the animals would flap whenever the character caught a bug or fish and since the other fighters will be clapping it makes a bit of sense.

2.Villager does the animation he does when he pays off a debt.

3.Villager pops some fireworks in celebration of his win

Whenever someone KOs/beats Sonic they tell him to go make a good game.
Every. Single. Character.

Can't hear you over how awesome Generations, Unleashed, Colors, Lost World and Racing Transformed are.

Umm... Unleashed? Does Racing Transformed count? I'm with you on Gen and Colors (haven't played Lost World yet and I am not going to judge it through reviews) but Unleashed was bad. Not '06 or Black Knight bad but it was decent at best in my opinion (which, let's be honest, in the gaming industry - decent is bad)

At this point, every character almost should have their own theme.

Luigi gets a victory theme from Luigi's Mansion
Peach gets the "You rescued her" theme from every Mario Bros.
Bowser plays the theme when you encounter him the first and second time in SM64
Pokemon Trainer plays the gym battle victory theme.
Diddy Kong plays his victory theme from DKC2.
King Dedede plays his boss theme.
Zelda plays Zelda's Lullaby.
Ganondorf plays Ganondorf's Tower theme.
I also think Link's should be changed to his victory theme from aLttP/Four Swords instead of the main theme.
Toon Link: http://youtu.be/2HD87Ixy9p8

Wouldn't know what to do in the case of say Fox and Falco. They play such identical roles in all of their games. They're always on the same team and a victory for Fox is a victory for Falco and vise versa. In their case, I would say it's alright that they have the same theme.
Wolf should have a remix of the beginning of his theme. You know, that fanfare when he appears.

Pikachu and Jigglypuff would be the same case as Fox and Falco. They're both regular beginning stage (excluding babies) pokemon from gen 1 that evolve from stones. Mewtwo could at least have the Pokemon Mansion theme or something. Other gen pokemon get something from their respective gens.

I think that every character should have their own unique victory theme much like Meta Knight has. Luigi's theme could be a jazzy version of the SMB victory theme while Bowser's would be a rock/metal version of the SMB victory theme.

A fourth of Sonic Unleashed was bad, the other fourth was good, and the Modern Sonic half was INCREDIBLY AMAZING. Some Werehog levels were done right, like Jungle Joyride Night and Rooftop Run Night.
