Improving My Fox

My main rivals are my two friends, one a Peach player and the other a IC's (main) and Roy player. I have a lot of trouble with both. I think, with my current grip of the advanced techs, that I'm the better smash player and yet I get beaten by those who use simple moves. The Peach player cannot do any advanced stuff and the IC's player can Only WD and do extreamly inconsistent SHFFLs with Roy and even rearer worbles(SP?). Aside from that they're both good and quick witted players and solid players. I'd really like some general tips 'till I can get some vids up.

Also, I'd like to improve my Laser play with my Fox and am looking for general tips and practice methods to do so. I'm just now learning how to SHDL, I'd also like to know how useful it is compared to the SHL

Anyhelp?

SHL is probably more useful in battle than SHDL. you can control the hight and make sure u get the hit, not to mention its faster. however if u want to camp, SHDL is the way to go, though you can still put significant pressure with just SHL. peach will give u problems untill you have become proficient with waveshining, JCed USmashes, sheild pressuring, and 100% lcanceling (to shines of course). those things will help you abuse peach's low traction and floaty weight. and the last two are mostly to avoid her awesome dsmash and grab game (if u didnt know already, peach can chainthrow you to fthrow starting in medium %, though i believe you can get out before the fthrow is fatal)

on ICs i honestly have no experience against them so i cant help you. i know the general idea of what to do (keep shining to keep them desynced, focus nana first) but i have never had the chance to do it.

and on roy, use the thunders combo often (roy falls from shine if u didnt notice) and otherwise all the combos vs marth are essentially the same. uthrow to uair. you can kill roy fairly easily off the sides cause he has the worst recovery in the game.

Although Roy usually doesn't give me too much hassle your tips are running through my brain as we speak. However the thunder combo is a little out of my reach... I've attempted it and failed... have you got any tips for that? Every time I got to hit it the opponent is always too far from my reach. This is also the same when I try to follow up with a upsmash or another wave dash (I know it's impossibles it hit some characters with the inf' wave shine)

How many character can you affectively hit with the follow up jab from the wave shine?

EDIT: And how should I practice JC'd upsmashs, I've got a very soild JC'd grab so maybe it wont be too hard.... Oh and what's the "Dash canceled grab" (I think that's the name of it >_> )

For thunders: wavedash farther. Practice.

You can't combo a waveshine>wavedash>anything. 2 wavedashes after a shine takes too much time. I'm not sure if that's what you meant by follow up w/ another wave dash or not, i'm just saying in case.
The only character that can't be hit by the infinite waveshine are those that fall to it. i.e. falco, roy, fox, etc....

You can effectively hit all characters who slide less than doctor mario with a jab after a waveshine. You might be able to hit everyone with it, not sure if dash cancelling a jab is fast enough to hit luigi.

FOr JC usmashes: hit Up, then UpC almost immediately afterward (ideally 1/60 sec afterward).

"dash canceled grab" is probably not the name for it, since a dash cancelled grab is strictly worse than a JC grab.
A "boost Grab" - canceling your dash attack into a grab, uses your dash grab, and gives it longer range (this isn't really needed most of the time). But you do a dash attack, then press z.

If you're having too much trouble with Thunder's combo, you don't need it to beat Roy. SHFFL'ed aerials and up-throw -> u-air will get the job done. If you still want to use Thunder's combo, then run at him and waveshine. The momentum from your run should cause you to be close enough to him after your waveshine.

Thanks for all your help so far boys, it really... helped. >_>

But another question arises (in some relation to the thunder combo): The shuffd uair. To Cstick or not to C stick?

Seems like when I try to use the normal stick I jump sometimes..

I've never used the normal stick for jumps...ever... So some stuff seems strange... Like the the JCed Upsmash... do I use the normal stick?

there is no repositioning of hands required. You just shine, then wavedash. Get used to doing it quickly.

What I mean is do you:

Down+B for Shine then Diaginal for the WD

or do you hold in the diagonal for the shine and the WD >_>

You can crouch and be holding diagonal at the same time.

Which is best?

Press Down+B, then roll the stick to the side, then wavedash.

you slide it against the circular "boundary" thing. You just slide it circularly. I'm not really sure how else to word it.

"rolling" it for waveshining basically means the fireball motion in the street fighter series of games, only you stop when the stick is still diagonal, since if you go all the way forward, you just airdodge.

Only if your wavedashes aren't frame perfect. What do you think a perfect waveshine is?

Another thing to point out if your just starting to waveshine. I highly recommend you make sure that your hitting jump before you pick a direction to wavedash in. Being able to waveshine backwards and forwards consistently will help your game. Turning in sheild when trying to go backwards sometimes can cause mistakes that will never happen as long as you make sure you jump first.
