This one's pretty fun.
Make a list of something you enjoy. I picked Pixar films. Pick two items from your list.
Answer the following questions:
1) What do they have in common?
2) Why are they so popular?
3) Why wouldn't they work together?
4) How could they work together?
I chose to combine Cars and Ratatouille:
1) What do they have in common?
-Both made by Pixar.
-Both feature characters who complete each other.
2) Why are they so popular?
-Made by Pixar.
-Simple story with real, believable characters.
-Believable comedy; not over-the-top. Characters don't laugh unless the audience would laugh.
-World is known yet exotic.
3) Why wouldn't they work together?
-Cars in in America; Ratatouille is in France.
-Remy likes to keep his hands clean, but Radiator Springs is very dusty.
-Would be difficult to have Remy and car in frame at the same time. Due to Remy's small size, he could easily be lost in the frame, and vice versa.
4) How could they go together?
-Remy and Linguini open a chain in America and must convert their expanded restaurant to fast food to appease the American public. What better way to deliver fast food fast than Lightning McQueen?
That's it! Try combining your own items--you'll definitely come up with something interesting.
