The Metroid Prime series was fantastic. It was an amazing trilogy of games that put Samus into the third dimension, something many people thought inconceivable. It was a breakthrough of Nintendo's greatest western partner, Retro Studios, who's moving on to more things. Its artistic detail is still on par with games generations later.
But I don't want another Metroid Prime game like so many people seem to want. Any further games that follow up on it are just going to devalue what made the Prime series so great. And Retro Studios should not go back to Metroid. They're talented enough that they can do other things. Let them finish this current Donkey Kong Country Returns trilogy, and let them make something new after THAT.
If you really want Metroid to make a comeback after Other M, why not have a new 2D game. As in a new 2D Metroid that isn't either a pseudo-survival horror or a remake. The last Metroid game of that kind was Super Metroid, a game which is MUCH older than the Prime games. Other M already betrayed a lot of what Metroid great, so how about we go back to the roots; a back-to-basics that reminds everyone of why Metroid is as popular as it is.
