So recently, I've been playing on the All is brawl ladder. I've kept up with my overall record for this ladder and the last one and it's 6-56. And in this ladder, I'm 0-19. So, I take this kind of hard. And so some people say that it's online and doesn't really matter, but it's all I have. No one I know around me plays brawl and I'm too young to go to tournament very often or at all for that matter. So, for now I have to use this to measure my skill.

Back to the topic, I thought about it and I ask "what am I doing wrong. Even when I'm not on the ladder, I still lose about 92% of my matches. And the sad thing is I know what to do some of the time. Like, I can notice patterns and punishes for some players, but I can't act it out. And I can blame it on the lag all the time. Sometimes it's just me.

So, I learn and practice AT's, try to pick up on other's playstyle, watch recordings of my self, adapt in matches, ect. but it doesn't work. And it's not like I just started playing seriously just now. I've been trying to play seriously for over a year now and i've only seen some improvement and lots more to get to.

Now, this isn't a blog to expect someone to give me the secret to instantly get better because I know I have to truly find that for myself and it takes time. But, I just want to know how others got better to guide me a little. Pros or just people who feel like they're getting better just post something. And please don't just say that you just knew what to do or that it just came to you.

Info about me.
Been playing seriously for about a year
haven't gone to one offline tournament
live in georgia (so help me find tournaments that aren't posted here)
I play with Dedede, Lucas, and Wario.
Record for the this ladder and the last Aib ladder is 6-56.

Thanks for your time.

The first step to improvement is awareness. Simply just noticing the flaws in your game and what people are taking advantage of is pretty critical. I'm sure you've made mistakes where immediately you said "I shouldn't have done that! Why did I do that?" Consider how often you get hit by anything, and examine why that happened. Was your attack choice too slow? Was your action obvious and predicted? Are you being bombarded by projectiles? Are your approaches all being deflected?

Once you're aware of the problem, you can start answering them. "My attack was too slow? Use something faster and less laggy." "I was being obvious and I got predicted? Try feinting." Etc.

And then once you're aware and you have a solution, the hardest part is application. Actually doing and remembering your counters is difficult, but eventually your hands will catch up with your mind and you'll see gradual improvement.

In Gwinnett county. But, I go near Macon regularly.
Really? Cool. I have family in Macon, and I'm actually in Ft. Benning right now for a shooting competition. Normally I live in the southeastern corner of our state, about 45 minutes from Tallahassee and an hour from Dothan, AL.

Where is Gwinnett, again? I can't remember.
