Luigis new game comes out on the 11th of August, which is also a month after olimars release, who was released a month after wii fit trainer. It all adds up perfectly.

Well, he technically should have been revealed already due to M&L DT being out in Japan today and in Europe and Australia before that even! Why does Ninetendo all of a sudden care more about Europe and Australia than the Americans? :(

Now the question is... Does he get a moveset rehall? And would that cause him to leave the Mario mushroom group and get his own Luigi game emblem like Wario?

Very possible since around that same time last month was when we got an Olimar update due to Pikmin 3.

Well a new moveset is a must for Luigi, as for the grouping...he'll stay in the Mushroom Kingdom group for sure. (btw I see this thread getting moved to the character section soon)

Seems legit.

I wish Ness had been announced today in celebration of Earthbound being released on the eShop for Wii U.

Australia's popularity seems to be on the rise all of a sudden. I have heard of Marine service members claiming that they wanted to move to Australia after a visit to the Robertson Barracks.

Because Europe and Australia have usually been the ones who would get the short end of the stick for many years. Its kinda nice Nintendo is cutting us some slack lately. Though I must admit, I didn't see it coming that America would get Mario & Luigi Dream Team Bros a whole month after Europe. That.... is a serious first.... Usually if we get games before America its usually one or two days difference, one week at the worst.... But a month?

But really, its more to do with the localization team with Nintendo of Europe and Nintendo of America, I wonder what went on at NoA for such a huge delay compared to NoE.....

Oh well anyway. It's not unheard of having unlockables becomming starters as Ness and Captain Falcon were starters in Melee so having Luigi become a starter isn't too much out of the realm of possibility but then again, Sakurai may not care too much and just keep him as an unlockable anyway. We will just have to wait and see.

I don't think this will happen unless Luigi's moveset gets completely revised. With Melee and Brawl, Sakurai didn't reveal unlockable characters aside from third party characters until after the game was released. Luigi has been an unlockable character for nearly 15 years now so unless he becomes significantly different from Mario this time around, I don't expect him to be revealed until after the game comes out.

I just want Luigi to use the poltergust tired of him being an altered mario even if that does make sense

but ya like most people are saying unless the change his moves he probably won't be revealed

I would actually prefer the original 12 to simply be in the starting roster because it's not exactly a surprise when we run into them anymore and I'd prefer most of the unlockable characters to be newcomers.

Especially after over half of the unlockables in Brawl were veterans we've seen before. Honestly, what person would think Luigi wouldn't appear in a Nintendo All-Star fighting game?

This. I think the initial backlash that Brawl's roster got would have been severely reduced if they had made more of the Newcomers unlockable. In my opinion, this is what they should have done:

Starters:

Mario
Luigi
Peach
Bowser
Donkey Kong
Yoshi
Wario
Link
Zelda/Sheik
Samus/ZSS
Pit
Ice Climbers
Kirby
Metaknight
Fox
Falco
Captain Falcon
Pikachu
Jigglypuff
Marth
Ness
Mr. Game and Watch

Unlockables:

Diddy Kong
Ganondorf (with unique moveset)
Toon Link
ROB
King Dedede
Olimar
Wolf
Pokemon Trainer
Lucario
Ike
Lucas
Sonic
Snake

If this had happened, my calculations predict that the amount of butthurt the internet expressed would have been reduced by about 86%.

I wouldn't have made Mr. Game & Watch a starter character. Back then people were still unsure if he was going to back (as in, he's a one-off novelty). I definitely agree with the rest but I guess Sakurai wanted to hype the game a little more and nothing gets people hyped than new characters. Can you imagine how people would feel if only veterans were shown on the DOJO?

As for Luigi, unless he becomes a starter (I'm in favour of that happening) I don't think we'll see him. I have a feeling they'll announce Zelda next with no game to advertise any time soon.
