Ladies and Gentleman, we have our first additional Newcomer since Brawl was first unveiled back at E3 '06. A bit of a surprise, no doubt... I myself was expecting Sakurai to at least post MetaKnight before he started updating the Newcomer roster... And it looks like our suspicions as to who would be the new representative of the Fire Emblem series were right on the money. Glad that I didn't stay up all night for nothing...
I must admit though that I was hoping that they would utilize his badass Goddess of Dawn look rather than his rather less awesome Path of Radiance incarnation, but that's likely due to the fact that the former is not yet an international release. Oh well... maybe as an alternate costume...
However, one can't help but ask just what are the implications of Ike's inclusion? Does this confirm that Roy and possibly Marth aren't returning? Judging from the fact he wields a two-handed sword and from the screens we have available it appears that fighting style may be different from the previous representatives, so therein may be a glimmer of hope (for Marth's return, at least...). At any rate, it's time to do what we here at SWF do best: speculate...
