Ladies and Gentleman, we have our first additional Newcomer since Brawl was first unveiled back at E3 '06. A bit of a surprise, no doubt... I myself was expecting Sakurai to at least post MetaKnight before he started updating the Newcomer roster... And it looks like our suspicions as to who would be the new representative of the Fire Emblem series were right on the money. Glad that I didn't stay up all night for nothing... :grin:

I must admit though that I was hoping that they would utilize his badass Goddess of Dawn look rather than his rather less awesome Path of Radiance incarnation, but that's likely due to the fact that the former is not yet an international release. Oh well... maybe as an alternate costume...

However, one can't help but ask just what are the implications of Ike's inclusion? Does this confirm that Roy and possibly Marth aren't returning? Judging from the fact he wields a two-handed sword and from the screens we have available it appears that fighting style may be different from the previous representatives, so therein may be a glimmer of hope (for Marth's return, at least...). At any rate, it's time to do what we here at SWF do best: speculate...

As someone who really enjoyed Ike's personality in FE9, I just want to say I'm thrilled he's in. Now if they can just add Lyn, this'll basically hit every single character inclusion I wanted to see; I'm pretty easy to please, as you can see.

I've said it already in another thread, but I'll say it again here because I'm just so thrilled about Ike being added: YEHS!

This is awsome.

But I know that Marth isn't going to be replaced with a character that is completely different.

Why not have both?

A light elegant swordsman, and a fierce heavy swordsman. It's a perfect balance.

That's true. I like Marth.

On the other hand, I'll main Ike & Zelda.

Is his name pronounced "Icky"(as in Ik-e) or "I-kc"

Do ya think this character's locked? Or is it just because he's a new creation?

I'm as excited about this as you are. Well, when you practically drown yourself with boiling coffee at work when you read the update, its hard not to be.

Hey now... Roy's my boy...

But yeah, Marth along with Fox were pretty much the Kings of the Ring (cliché, I know...) in Melee

Ouch, I feel for you WindGuru. Coffee burns something dreadful...

Anyway, this update was awesome. I'd always suspected Ike would be in there, but I never thought he'd be on the site so soon...

Brawl seems like it's only gonna get better with every passing second, now that Ike has joined the roster, many FE fans got what they want. Hopefully we can say that for everyone else. It's still too cool to acutally have all the fan favorites thrown into one game. Then there's third party additions...... it just gets so better. Well I hope Marth returns because fans don't wanna be let down. Now lets just hope Ike plays smooth.
