Would probably be more useful in a non-custom environment, but it'd need some good customs to be better in a custom environment since gravity nade is so good for her.

Why not a flaming short whip/chain or a slower and lengthend whip/chain?

Definitely depends on if it could tether to the ledge.

If not, probably not.
If so, yeah it'd be incredibly good.

Itd be good regardless, majorly due to a few things. Tethering opponents can release from the edge exponentially faster than other recoveries, allowing them to secure more frame advantage and situationally safer options. This allows Sheik the ability to further pester people offstage as she could quick replenish her double jump and BF. Finally, she would be able to abuse chain locks because a) low SDI and b) a major setup due to trumping. Basically any successful trump would equate to some form of chain punishment as the chain can cover the ledge and slightly above sheiks short hop height all at the same time. which means unless u opt for a high recovery you are gonna get hit by that chain.

I almost never used the chain in Melee. In Brawl, the tether was VERY useful for recovery, so if they had kept that in Smash 4, well... I think that Sheik's recovery would be a bit broken, lol. That's not to say that I wouldn't want it! But man, her recovery is already silly on its own in this game.
