Would we adopt it as the new competitive standard?

Like, if Sakurai suddenly decided to release a balance patch, would we just say nah and keep going with the current standard?

He'd likely ruin it by making it like Sm4sh or Brawl. so no.

There would always be someone who would make it to the game we all know and love. Basically if he did anything to Melee, it would be just like with Brawl someone would change it to make it better:joyful::laugh:

if he re-released PAL i would use that in a heartbeat

other than that i would ignore it since he would likely ruin a lot of what makes melee amazing

I think one of the reasons melee maintains it's popularity is that you can't have practiced techniques invalidated by a random patch. The fact that the meta keeps evolving is interesting too.

Not really.

It also depends what the patch would even do.

Is it leaving core mechanics or not? If it is, is it focusing on character balances and legal bug fixes for not engine exploits but rather aspects of the game that can be janky, battlefields ledges, wobbling etc.

I'm not sure what people are expecting in this thread if the term "patch" is used.
