Hey all, so once Min Min dropped yesterday, naturally the first thing I did was make Callie and Marie Mii fighters and went online to stay fresh!! It was fun, and I think the Callie and Marie Mii costumes are pretty good. I mean they made new models for them and everything, with dynamic squid-hair.
It made me think that if they had just put in a little more effort, and if Sakurai didn't have the dumb rule of 8 and only 8 variations per character, Callie and Marie could have made great alts for the Inkling. And then that made me wonder what the game could have looked like if Sakurai and team were making and selling new alts instead of Mii fighter costumes....here are some ideas on what I think we might have had (using just Mii costumes we already have):
Diddy Kong - Dixie Kong
Inkling - Callie, Marie, Splatoon 2 inkling (boy and girl)
Ike - Black Knight
Link - Ancient Armor
Marth - Takamaru
Mega Man - Proto Man
Ness - Ashley
Olimar - Toad
Samus - Ray Mk III
Sheik - Yiga
Shulk - Dunban, Rex
Sonic - Tails, Knuckles
Yoshi - Woolly Yoshi
and
Captain Falcon - Waluigi
Now I know what you're thinking, that would just make all of these characters clones without any unique identity. Yes, but you can already play as these characters in some fashion as Mii fighters. The only difference is that they look way worse as Mii fighters and nobody actually plays Mii fighters anyway. If they're going to sell us costumes for different characters, I'd rather us be able to slap that on to a more appropriate/unique fighter, you know? Especially considering Mii fighters all have the same toonish body shape.
Also, nobody can agree what Waluigi's moveset should be because he has virtually nothing to pull from. I think it would be an honor to give him the speculated original Dragon King moveset that Captain Falcon has. And honestly I think it wouldn't be half bad for Waluigi.
