Here's the problem:

Let's say person A unlocked all of the characters in Brawl.

And person B just got the game, and hasn't unlocked any characters.

If Brawl is online, and person A and person B try to play each other online, how exactly will that work?

Will person A be allowed to use any of the characters, while person B is restricted to the first few characters?

Or will all the characters be available to both persons A and B?

There is a problem either way. It is not fair for person A to have more characters from which to choose when playing against person B, but at the same time, how is it fair to allow person B to use any of the characters, without having ever unlocked them?

I don't know if this is interesting enough to stay open, but I'd like to hear some responses before it gets closed (if it does).

Online could be unlockable XD

Well, dunno. Sometimes they have all characters available during online. Or they could not. They'll think of something up.

Besides, if they allow you to only use the characters you've unlocked, then it's B's problem for not bothering to unlock them before playing online.

I think Person B can use all of the characters, but Person A uses whoever he has. It sounds unfair, but it would be dumb if Person A was able to use anyone he wants just because Person B has everyone.

I'm going to have to agree with "PrettyGoodYear" on this one.

Hopefully, online Brawl will be unlockable, so it won't make things confusing.

How will it be confusing? Each player is going to have their own character select screen, their own tv and their own set of characters that are unlocked. It's online lol.

When people play on line, they might see a character they haven't seen before. Oooh big deal. It will be just like Mario Kart DS. You see a new character and go "Wow, I can't wait to unlock whoever that is."

Well... not so much confusing, but I think it would really suck to go to the online mode first thing and BAM! everything is unlocked already (like they did in Super Mario Strikers Charged) seeing as there are so many things to unlock in Brawl, it would be disapointing to ruin all of the game's unlockables at once by going to online.

It wouldn't be the same if there were like 2 characters and stages to unlock, but this is a lot different.

Well I don't think everything will be unlocked right when you start playing. Well at least not for you. If you play someone online who HAS unlocked everything I don't think you will be able to see their character select screen the same way they see it.

If people are too afraid of getting spoiled then perhaps they should stay away from online play until they unlock everything, if it matters to them so much.

Very true... I know I will, but if you were online for enough time, you could probably figure most of the highlight characters by facing people, but still... it doesn't really matter since the small percentage of people that think like me probably will simply steer clear of online until they unlock everything.

Does it matter? Woop de doo, he has more characters than you will. Unlock that crap first, it won't be that hard.

Exactly. You play as what you've unlocked but can play against what you haven't.
