Why not do this with missles?

You can do a homing missle out of dropping from a platform at that length, and you can just hop and do the autoland with practice.

A little too situational given that it's stage-dependent, but hey, all the more reason to love the hell out of Lylat Cruise, Smashville, and Frigate Orpheon.

i thought about it and i know its really useful, but i've never gotten around to practicing. lylat cruise and smashville work for this tech and they're random levels. the slanted slopes of that yoshi level and that watery mario place can also work if you can find the right spot on the slopes. there are so many common levels that can accommodate better platform missile canceling that it is hard to justify not learning it

Because SH homing missile shoots faster than this. If anything, the autoland would be most useful for setting up utilt/charge shot on Lylat Cruise. The platform on Smashville is unused for me because it messes with dashing momentum. It might be useful for setting up a bomb-drop, though.
