So my club and I at our high school recently held a Smash 3DS tourney. We we're trying to use it as a fundraiser since we do need some extra funds and for 1st place, we would order an amiibo of their choice. We were able to make a decent profit, but I was kinda disappointed by the low turnout. In addition, some of the less competitive people were turned off, so they did not join. I understand that most people wouldn't like having to pay to enter a tournament, but we don't exactly get much support from our school, so most of the money we make is from membership fees and fundraiser events.
If we can get enough people interested in our Smash Wii U tourney we might be holding, we might have it. We will likely have more people since practically anyone can join since you don't need the console to play. However, we still need to make money off of it and probably have a prize to attract more people. So I need more suggestions on what we could do.

It's kinda hard to host a tournament at school (for me at least) but like if you ask your principal if you can post posters or ads saying your hosting a tournament then doing it at a activity center or the gym (if you have those places) or some place were you can host it in the building and not piss off teachers and stuff. And if you want to make money for your fundraiser then put that on the ad and talk to people about it.
