Double Helix
Smash Journeyman
Since the drive for breast cancer did so well and brought about the really awesome (and how we should function) #oneunit, I thought of a smashfest idea. I got a lot of positive feedback (though many were casuals). The basic idea was, there is not a huge community around, and we should play some Smash. We got copies of Smash64, Melee, and Brawl, along with CRTs. The format of the tournament was this:
At the beginning of the tournament, all players choose their favorite game.
All sets are Bo3.
After brackets are set up, if both players have the same favorite game, its a simple Bo3 set on that game.
If the favorites are different, game one is played on Player 1's favorite game, game two is on Player 2's favorite game, and if a game three is necessary, play game three on the third game.
Items are off.
Legal stage set are the USA tournament legal stages for each game.
Gentleman's clause of course.
We didn't have to worry about it, but wobbling would be illegal (because it isn't all Melee players), and stall tactics are grounds for DQing that game.
Player 2 picks the stage for Player 1's game.
Player 1 picks the stage for Player 2's game.
Rock, Paper, Scissors determines who gets stage choice for game 3 (or just go random).
For example, Alex chooses Smash64 as his favorite, and Kyle chooses Brawl as his favorite game.
Alex wins on 64 (Kyle picked the stage). Kyle wins on Brawl (Alex picked the stage).
So Melee decides the winner of the set.
Anyways, it was fun and really promotes bringing the community together, because all of the games are fun, and all of the games are good and super different. At least, I love all of the games. The rules could be more comprehensive, but I just kinda thought of it soon.
