I will get both version of Smash 4, but I can't help but think that the 3DS version will feel bad in terms of how fluent the controller is. I was thinking that some sort of accessory would very much help this problem. An example would be the utilization of the circle pad pro, or, and this is a LONG shot, the ability to connect a controller to the 3DS so that you can use THAT controller, as if the 3DS was a mini TV.

However, the question becomes, should people have to pay for this separately, or should smash 4 come with an accessory? I would like to hear your opinions, as well as what accessories the 3DS would benefit from for Smash 4.

I've played on a 3DS for about 2 years now.
..I don't think there'll be a problem...

Playing Smash on a 3ds........ Yeah, big problem......
How so?
If you're referring to the Circle Pad. It's not as bad as it looks.
It's not like you lose grip on it. If you do, then just slightly hold onto the edge of it.

...Unless you just really don't like the idea of Smash 3DS.

The inability to have a c stick. Most of my ariels are done with the c stick for quickness, and ease such as up air strings with Metaknight. Also, the buttons will feel weird, especially performing smashes....... Oh god, smashes.......

If anything, just get the Circle Pad Pro is you're worried.
And, from what I've heard. The Circle Pad is no different than a Joystick.
Or, just use the D-Pad. That's what i plan to do...

D pad is different because you can't just slide your hand down, you need to actually press a button. The circle pad pro cost money, and limits the mobile portion.

I don't think you get it. Pressing the button adds more lag, and is already harder to do. The idea of smash on the 3ds is bad to me. It's not that it's hard, it's impractical.
I don't get it, cause I don't see a problem.
The game will be just fine. So? You push a button. Heaven forbid timing is involved...

I feel like you're making a mountain out of a molehill.

I guess it's up to preference. Maybe i'll be wrong when I get the game, but I don't think the 3ds is good for smash. Doing a smash will be hard, it will cramp your hands after a while etc.....

Just curious.
...Do you have a 3DS? I'm just wondering.

Yeah........
So we're on the same page.
I've played MK7, KI:U, numerous Virtual Console games. Heck, I've played SM64DS.

And I've never had cramps or pains because of it (especially MK7, it gets brutal at times).
I don't think timing the Circle Pad with a button will cause pain.

Heck, I've played SSF2 with a keyboard (no C-Stick mind you). And I'm still fine.

I guess it's a personal thing. I've seen countless others complain about cramps too, and I use an xl. Super Mario 64ds is much slower. MK7 is just holding down a button, changing directions, and throwing an item. Whenever i play kid icarus uprising, my hands cramp after 30 minutes. THAT game is intense and hurts, especially on land.

Really?
I've played Ki:U for a year. Never cramped up to my knowledge.
But if that's the case. I'd recommend hand stretches.

Meh. I play melee for 3 hours straight no cramps or anything.

Yes,but the 3ds, regardless of controls eventually gives me cramps. It's inevitable, the problem is how fast. There's also the inabillity to preform ATs........
Well, another thing could be the amount of force.
Tensing your hands up could be the problem here.

Me and all the many others who complain are doing it wrong?..........Probably, considering how many people failed at Skyward Sword, but most people aren't reasonable and will blame the game. Accessory will be the best option for Nintendo.

I didn't say you're doing it wrong.
I'm saying maybe you're putting too much tension on your hands.
A good idea is relaxing, maybe stretching them or taking a small break if they're cramped.

Well, if i'm putting too much tension, i'm doing it wrong imo. Whatever, let's not argue semantics.

We've got to wait for the game to come out to actually have an idea of how well the controls work.

Nice avatar. :bee: Anyways, we can make predictions.
:)

I just think that we cant judge the controls completely until we've actually played the game. We can speculate them, but we can't automatically say that the controls are bad when we haven't tested them.

I agree, but in terms of speculation, i think it's safe to assume, especially when you've played games like kid icarus uprising that hurt your hands ever 30 minutes. I don't think it's the game, but the 3ds.

For me, the 3DS is a little inconstant. Some games, like Mario Kart 7, hurt my hands, but some games, like Link Between Worlds, don't. I guess I'm just going to have to wait and see.

Same with me, but Smash is a fast game with quick inputs. Bound to cramp.

Lying about my country.
Eh, if Street Fighter IV worked, Smash can do too.

Only problem I see is the lack of a right stick, which is optional anyways. Maybe they'll add an option to use the touchscreen as a C replacement, far from perfect, but could be decent.

As for Kid Icarus giving cramps, I always felt that it's mostly 'cause you're holding the console with one hand, do you play with the stand included with the game?

I tried both, they both hurt.

People actually used the C stick?

If the CPP isn't compatible, or there's no way at all you can do aerials/smash with a C-Stick, then everyone is gonna have the same handicap. We will all have the same "problems", so we are on the same level no matter what.

No, some characters benefit more from certain things than others. In that sense, we're not at the same level. It's not that it's unfair anyways, it's that it's annoying feels bad, etc. You're arguing against something no one is advocating.
