I'd say alternate pokemon for the trainer are OUT!

Now that chickorita and piplup have been confirmed as poke ball PKMN, I'd say that having different Pokemon as different alt costumes for the Trainer (as many have suggested) is EXTREMELY unlikely!!

yeah, it was a cool idea in theory but it could never work. especially since Charizard is the only starter who has wings

I was under the impression that only the Pokemon Trainer would be the one that can be altered, from Red -> Dawn or whatever.

It wouldn't be possible to change the pokemon the trainer uses without making the moves make no sense. Alternate costumes for the trainer, though, is very possible, and I hope it happens.

Alternate Pokemon beats alternate costumes anyday, and it looks likely that the latter will be used.
