Yeah, I'm pretty new to the more competitive side of SSBM (I actually don't even own it atm), and I decided that IC would be a fun character to main.
So, first off - the title's a bit misleading. I'm sure that there's no set "best move" considering pretty much everything's situational, and the "best move" would eventually degrade anyways.
So, what I'm asking is: "Which are the best moves in those specific situations?"
I'm still looking around and thoroughly reading around here, and from what I've gathered (correct me if I'm wrong), down-smash seems to be really good. If they tech behind you, d-smash. If they mess up, punish them with a wavedash>d-smash. I also hear that, in the air, bair is really good because it has some sweet damage and KB.
NOW, besides all that (), what do you, the other IC-ers, think is the IC's most required technique? Not the usage of uair, fair, or anything else that's in the moveset but such as WDing, desyncing, chain-grabbing... Maybe not just one, but the top few.
ALSO (lots of stuff ), do you think SHFFLing is needed to learn for IC? I can SHFFL decently (only in practices ), but doing them with IC is a pain.
LAST QUESTION - Not a "what's the best" kind of thing, but, as someone who plays ICs, what's your favorite move? It could be doing the hand-off (damage raking), other chaingrabs, SH-ice blocks (practical use of destroying approaches), or whatever for whatever reason.
EDIT: I remembered a question, lol. Anyways, it's actually the biggest thing I was thinking of. It's related to the "best move" question. It basically is, except I'm being more specific now. What're the best tools for the offensive IC? The defensive IC? The IC approaching the enemy (I consider offensive IC as just the IC raking up the damage and the approaching-IC as the one who's trying to set up the offensive IC)?
