IC's Best Move?

Yeah, I'm pretty new to the more competitive side of SSBM (I actually don't even own it atm), and I decided that IC would be a fun character to main.

So, first off - the title's a bit misleading. I'm sure that there's no set "best move" considering pretty much everything's situational, and the "best move" would eventually degrade anyways.

So, what I'm asking is: "Which are the best moves in those specific situations?"

I'm still looking around and thoroughly reading around here, and from what I've gathered (correct me if I'm wrong), down-smash seems to be really good. If they tech behind you, d-smash. If they mess up, punish them with a wavedash>d-smash. I also hear that, in the air, bair is really good because it has some sweet damage and KB.

NOW, besides all that (:p), what do you, the other IC-ers, think is the IC's most required technique? Not the usage of uair, fair, or anything else that's in the moveset but such as WDing, desyncing, chain-grabbing... Maybe not just one, but the top few.

ALSO (lots of stuff :p), do you think SHFFLing is needed to learn for IC? I can SHFFL decently (only in practices :p), but doing them with IC is a pain.

LAST QUESTION - Not a "what's the best" kind of thing, but, as someone who plays ICs, what's your favorite move? It could be doing the hand-off (damage raking), other chaingrabs, SH-ice blocks (practical use of destroying approaches), or whatever for whatever reason.

EDIT: I remembered a question, lol. Anyways, it's actually the biggest thing I was thinking of. It's related to the "best move" question. It basically is, except I'm being more specific now. What're the best tools for the offensive IC? The defensive IC? The IC approaching the enemy (I consider offensive IC as just the IC raking up the damage and the approaching-IC as the one who's trying to set up the offensive IC)?

My favorite move is uair. It's so good. Desync is really important. It can help you land grabs and do neat combos like wobbles :D.

DOWN-SMASH!!!!!!!! edge gaurds, chain throws, racks up a lot of damage, is a combo, kill move, uber fast, disjointed, punsidhes really good and is the best move ever I would say more but I would get banned.

But really master the following shffling, wding, chain throws(not all). those are the must no matter how you play understood? SHffing is good for fighting puff(so i've heard) you can auto cancel bair(if you can't chain throw as solo popo I think it's good to follow with this) and upair, fair has it's places and nair can set up grabs sometimes.

wding.. well theirs to much to talk about.

after that stuff yo can get the crazy fun tech skill

like de-synces some really easy simple ons.

when you start your de-synced just hold a move.

spot-dodge, roll, dash danceing are the easiest ways and overall I think the best you can dd about down-B to wahtever you can get really createive but there are tons of way to de-synce. ALso don't de-synce much when fighting fox, falcon and projectile campers really it's an opening.

Also knowledge is power for ice climbers their is a lot of info everywhere some nearly useless like smash canceling(if de-synced nana is using a smash( or a few other moves) you can cancel it anytime with down-B or up-B) or really good tricks

lol thanks for all the input. Also, any tips on wobbling and doing the hand-off? I've tried wobbling (for the sake of it; it's a little cheap, but I wanted to try it out. Plus, the IC's need to completely synced before you start the wobble so it's kinda hard to do it in real combat >_>) and the hand-off, but I just can't do them. :p

I would go check out both threads on the forum specifically designed to handle these questions, for thus says the lord Wobbles, " I shall not help thee who does not helpeth himself, lest I throw my controller against a wall."

Hand=off changes to much but it's useful. Um really just jump in like the polar run(or whatever it's called(also I like useing ())).

But yeah do things learn come back learn random things and how to fix your problems, get new problem come back.

Turazrok-Really I type slow so I would have posted before you. Wow down-smash I really love that move to much. But yeah thanks a random nice thing is ALWAYS cool no matter what. Also I love being predictable so I can be unpredictable(which is predictable of me) then I can mess with yo minds.

I like B-air, it has really nice knock-back and pretty much auto-cancels itself, I like to WD jump out of the stage and try to land it for the kill.

About wobbling, on the sticky there's a metronome mp3, that helped me alot when I wanted to try it out...

And with the hand-off it's flashy and useful but it's requiered to practice it a lot, and with several characters, due to the timing/weight etc involved...

Although I'm curious about PAL version, I don't know on what thread was but it was mentioned that PAL throws are all the same, so it might not require a lot of practice as NTSC version... I should ask a PAL player for that XD

its all about the jabs and dtilts for me allows me to set up for more combos and also pops ppl up just a little or KD if they CC.

most ppl use the ftilt over dtilt but they both do the same a very underrated move.

d >_>b...

I have to agree with Vts, d-tilt it's underrated, I usually use D-tilt for certain edgeguards on fast fallers, and at some decent % it combos/follows-up (depending character) into F-tilt.

Also has a decent range.

D-tilt is way underrated. It's a great combo breaker, and great for some edgeguards (as Meme said.)
Grabs are good in ANY situation, pretty much. If you have an oppurtunity, grabs are one of the best options, simply because you can do nearly ANYTHING with it. So many different options.
Uair is great if the opponent is above you (priority), and bair is great for ledge guarding, uses after uair, ect.
Another great and unappreciated move is the utilt. Most of the time, opponents arent expecting this, allowing you to get two-three off on them in the right situation. It also leads to a uair or bair, dpending on DI.
And as already stated, dsmash, like grabs, are great for ICs do to the many possible followups and uses. Plus it's pretty much broken. Abuse it. :)
And jabs, especially when canceled, are grand.

That's a lot of moves that are great. IC's must be uber OP. :D
