So today, I goto this tournament. I played our boy ganon and I won the first rounds without a problem. I got into the finals match tho and I played the ice climbers. Going into this I wasn't aware of their chain grab and I got my *** beat. Any suggestions on how to beat them?

Don't play on FD. Stay aerial. Make them approach by baiting and play completely defensive.

That's about it, I guess. >.>'

That sounds about right.

My friend mains Ice Climbers and you just have to beat them in the air. Make sure you don't make any mistakes that could cost you an important life or lots of damage. But then again, thats sort of a given fact about smash in general.

As Ganondorf I have no idea for not getting grabbed. Maybe mix in a lot of retreating aerials and space extremely well, never attack their shield.

Blah. That's rough. i was getting bombarded with their ice projectile things and the ice breath completely stopped all my advances. I will try that defense next time. I did bait with thunderstorm for a bit and a couple of those tippman's but other than that I couldnt do a thing. he shut down my murder choke and stomping game with his freakin nana. But I guess defense is all I can hope for, but what if he just...doesnt advance? lol. I mean he is the one with projectiles, kinda makes me have to make the move.

You do have to advance and this is what makes this matchup extremely hard, they actually have a great camping game and Ganons approaches are none too great.

Beat them in the air while playing defensively and if you manage to get a strong hit (the second Ice Climber flies farthe than the other) and hit the second Ice Climber, try to knock out the partner. That will make it a whole lot easier.

Yeah. The only thing Ganon's got going on in this matchup is some aerials. So if you really want a chance at winning, just counterpick Zelda.

Hmm... Aerials are your best bet in this match, but be sure you do them cautiously and concentrate on spacing. Attacking a Shield is too risky.

I actually played and IC-main last night, and got my butt handed to me. They punished my every approach by shield-grabbing, which led to an embarrassingly low percentage kill on me, and they ***** my lag times whenever I took a swipe at them. I wish I had known to just stick to aerials before hand.

Actually, since the whole plan of attack is aerial, then Ganon shouldn't have to approach, since the ice cubes (or whatever they're called) move slow enough to reliably jump over. That way, IC is encouraged to approach and Ganon can stay on the defensive more easily.

...unless they desync and start a constant barrage of ice cubes...
