Not meaning to be in reference to a certain large-scale tournament that transpired recently, I want to know what one does in this situation. Last time I held a large scale tournament I had random people deciding to tell me they had to go before an event started. Fair enough, but then they needed their money back.

I had registration for all events happen at the start of the day before anything transpired. A surefire way to deal with this issue would be to charge people their money as each event begins, but that's also time consuming.

Keeping in mind that saying 'No refunds' to people adds to the issues surrounding smash tournaments anyway, has any TO experienced this type of problem before?

typically if you strictly enforce "no refunds" to your advertisement, then they should comply. if they don't read the advertisement, then they're idiots.

I've had a situation where i was making the bracket and was told for a refund, then i went wtf... Despite i had say no refunds, i did anyways to shut them up. even to the point i gave my own money to shut them up

in all seriousness, people don't have common sense or even aware of the time it takes for a tournament to run
