Don't take the title harshly, I am actually a pretty funny person from time to time, and I do like my sarcasm. That being said, I am Drake, I main a blue Yoshi. If I have battled you online, I apologize. Online is not my thing and has caused me much frustration. I am usually friendly, easy going, and have played Smash 64, Smash Melee, Smash on wii, Smash on 3ds, and Ultimate. I like Ultimate. I am getting into it much as I did in Melee. I no longer own my Gamecube, nor do I currently play melee. I do own a switch now, and since it is the Smash I can play, it is the one I am playing now.
Yoshi has always been my favorite nintendo character period. I loved playing around with that dino in Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, ect. ect. Well when Smash came out on the 64, I played Yoshi of course. I learned him well enough to beat most of my friends, except for the ones who got good with the fat yellow rat. My apologies to all Pikachu mains, I respect that character greatly, for he always kicked my ass in those days. Now of course I learned fast how to cheese with Yoshi as well. Giant DK was always easy, even on very hard, to get a 1 button move bonus with Yoshi. However, in Melee, I learned how to really utilize Yoshi. His Down Air was insanely good if timed right. It was my saving grace in the Master and Crazy hand fight. I dabbled with other characters, but Yoshi was always my go to character. Except for Event 51, I admit I cheesed that one hardcore with Jigglypuff.
I've had to evolve my play style quite a bit with Ultimate. I had to learn a lot of the more advanced moves just to beat the AI at times. I think I got a good rhythm now with my play style, if afforded the opportunity, I will throw a bit of randomness into the mix just to see how it stirs up the match. It is fun sometimes, and gives you a chance to study your opponents reactions. I do like to play on random stages, playing on just battlefields or Omega stages gets boring. Sometimes I find it fun to let the stage determine the fight. If one can maintain a good rhythm with the stage and the fight, it can be amazing to watch. Players who just SD when they get pulled into a side scrolling level like Super Mario 3D Land, I wonder why. I wonder why not build skill on top of truly testing your awareness. Then again I also used to play WoW, so Raid Awareness was something I learned. Comes in handy in fighting games, one main rule, don't stand in the fire. I suppose these could be seen as flaws, but that's just how I play.
I consider myself fair at the game, I do admit I have my faults, one is I like to play more then win. I find just going all out for a quick kill isn't fun, not to mention not always an option with a skilled player. My current online GSP with Yoshi is abysmal, somewhere around 75-78k. I do have 293 KOs with 292 total falls with Yoshi, so I don't think that's terrible. My best GSP is with Roy at 3.1 million with only 1 win. I have beaten WoL, currently working for a Hardmode completion, wont be long, just sooo many fights to go. It's not difficult, some fights are BS, but then I just equip an even more BS team and stomp it lol. I like overcoming challenges. I will admit, sometimes I set my sights a touch too high.
I did beat Classic Mode with Yoshi finally scoring 2,043,350. Not the best score, but my goal was to get over 2 million, and I did that.
I have never played in a tournament, although I'd like to try one day, just not a lot of them in my area, if any. Don't have the means to leave state either. With how online is currently, I don't see myself trying to do an online tournament just yet, hopefully they get the net code debugged and cleaned up.
I've had to change my attitude lately, I don't exactly play to win anymore, but I don't play to loose either, I just try to play for fun. If I win, cool, if I loose, hopefully I learned something.
I am looking for good honorable skilled players to play with. I understand edge guarding and spikes are part of the game, but I feel they are cheap. However I play differently then most I see. I don't like playing the online game mainly because I don't like trying to play king of the hill and winning by any means I can.
I was raised differently you could say.
I am working to put a group together. I call it Smash Trash, because to some that is what I could be considered. However by no means am I unskilled at the game. Sort of a different type of player. Should anyone be interested in this, I can let you know the requirements. Should it just fall dead in the water with no interest, oh well, can't say I didn't try lol.
I apologize for the length of this post, but introducing ones self should be more then a simple howdy do.
