I was gonna buy it ever since it was announced but i need some more info from ppl who actually have it. I'm not getting a 360 due to incomprehensible lack of wifi and i already have the wii. I live in the UK so its close to 420£ which is about 630 dollars i think. I just want to hear peoples views onif its worth it or not.

I'd say go check the PS3 topic, but it's quite long.

Essentially, are there games on it you want to play? 360 has wifi with an adaptor and has Live which the PS3 can't touch yet. Graphically, the games are pretty much the same and the controls are fine. It just comes down to what you want to play.

Resistance is a great game and probably one of the best FPSes I've bought in a long time.

Live allows easy to find games, constant flow of downloadable content, etc that Sony doesn't have yet. The biggest reason I got a PS3 in terms of online was the fact that PSN is completely free save for the games you buy, whereas Live costs $50 a year. While that isn't a whole lot, it adds up when you buy 2-3 games a week, like I probably will this week.

Games like Lair, MGS4, Home, Pain, Little Big Planet, etc also helped in my decision. If you want more information on what the PS3 can do either read the Playstation 3 topic or AIM me.

Wait for the price to drop... There's no reason to get one right now, since there aren't a whole lot of good games for it. Once the price drops, you can go pick up any good games that have come out so far, as well as Metal Gear Solid 4, and such.

I will say this, there rumors of a price drop range from this summer to 2 years from now. There is nothing solid yet at all for any console on a price drop.

How is it a rip-off? Once MS adds all their new downloadable movies/TV shows, show storing, etc. It will smoke PSN. I say this even when I'll be spending at least $20 tomorrow since they are adding PS1 and PS2 titles.

I hope they add Warhawk.

Well I can't tell you much about the PS3 because I don't personally have any interests in it unless KH3 is going to be for it exclusively but I can say that I personally enjoy the Wii and 360 a lot and find that a system that currently has no major games out is not worth $600. See about waiting on a price drop or buying it when there's a game you want out for it.

Also notice that the 360 currently has an awesome online.(I have yet to put my Wii online) The 360's free game demos that come with the online are easily worth the $50 so if that is something averting you from a 360 fear not.

Yeah then you can spend another $10 on a high def movie that slowly dls when blockbuster is just down the road that offers better value . $50 + brutally expensive rentable hd movies/shows? COme to think of it, everything on XL has a price, even hwen you're not shopping. Yeah, MS knows exactly where that other $200 you didn't spend on PS3 goes. If shopping is important to you, then XL is where it's at, from an online gaming experience both will do, except PSN won't cost you anything. 360's XL is almost as bad as spending $180 US on an MS branded HDD.

But in Canada it's a non issue, we don't even have that stuff so your comment still doesn't apply to me.:(

All I am saying is, right now, PSN doesn't have much. Calling All Cars is probably the best $10 I spent and MK2 is a blast, but really, PSN just can't touch the amount of content that Live has. However, PSN is still in it's very early stages and once Warhawk is on their (the PS3 version, that is) I can see a quick change in the favor of PSN especially if Home is a hit.

It comes down to this really: Do you want to play great games now or later? If you can't wait, get a 360. If you can wait until August-September for some great games and live off the PSN (that's what I am doing) get a PS3.

True but XL charges too much for everything. The dlable games pretty much have a universal price, I accept that,, but the hd content, and pretty much everything else is abnormally expensive.

For online gaming, the main point of PSN and XL, PSN is #1 b/c it is free.

I've owned the PS3 since launch day. Unfortunately it's not all I was hoping for it to be or all it's cracked up to be. The PS3 has a lot of great games, however most of them are on the 360 which is total buzzkill. The good games PS3 has that 360 doesn't have are Resistance and Motor Storm. However I wouldn't go as far as to say that it's worth paying $660 for a PS3 just to play Resistance. The little knicks and knacks on it are ok. I never supported console browsers but hey, if you do and that's your thing have fun. The Blu-Ray player is alright. I mean if you have Blu-Ray DVDs. Online is pretty much upgraded PS2 online. Doesn't come close to Xbox Live no matter what anyone says. It's really a better decision to buy a Wii, a 360, or both than it is to buy a PS3. Because I've been highly disappointed for months now.

My friend has one.

Good graphics, but the only game I think that stands out is Resistence: Fall Of Man. Motor Storm is fun to watch crashes, but joy soon fades after that.
