I need to know of this is a realistic idea

My highschool requires the Senior class to do this project.

We must
1) Find a social issue
2) Learn a new skill
3) Create something of it
4) Make an impact, big or small.

I was brainstorming ideas and I thought of being a TO and raise money for a charity.

I never was a TO before and I don't know how I would raise money but still attract a large amount of participants.

I live in South East Michigan
Detroit
Ann Arbor
East Lansing are all options I can host.

What do you guys think?
