Save for web? I dont even think i know where it says that.

When your saving images in photoshop always go to save as:

then save one as a PSD. This way if you need to make any changes you can do them easily. Also good proof that you actualy made the image.

Then save as again and save it as a PNG. This is the best format for images quality wise. Then just upload the image on a hosting site like photobucket or tinypic

When you hit save for web, make sure you check over all those options beside the 4 pictures that show up.

1.)

2.)

3.)

And then hit "Save" :) It should save as something like an "img only file" and that's fine. Just trust the program and save it to wherever you put your pictures on your computer.

If your colors have been CHANGING, it might be because you were saving it as a GIF. Like I show in the examples, save it as a JPG. If you WANT to save it as a GIF, let me know and I will help you with that, too.

Hope that helped!

Why save for web?

Save As > PNG.

PNG > jpg in like every case except for file size (on BIGGER documents)

So I suggest using Save as PNG instead. D:

Save for Web has very different purposes than just a normal JPG or PNG. When you choose Save for Web, you can choose a JPG or a PNG, or a GIF...whatever, but when you Save for Web you're saving in a specific jpg, png, or gif format that's actually different from just "Save As".

By experience 'Save as...' to PNG is automaticly perfectly optimised, so 'Save for web' is overkill usually. It's great when comparing formats though.
