Hey guys,

I really enjoyed Brawl and I really loved the Subspace Emissary story mission mode.

It was a great Kirby/Mario/ Metroid adventure Spin-Off, and the way characters were unlocked, and the whole mode was objectively really good and enjoyable. It was a great game within a game, regardless of what some competitives say.

People hated on it, because it wasn't in Melee and people resented it,

but it was a really good mode, an exciting adventure, basically a Kirby game within Smash Bros but better,

I really feel they are doing a disservice to Smash by not including the mode, another lesser Melee type adventure won't do if they go that way....

Does anyone else feel the sting of not having Subspace Emissary 2 in Smash Bros 4?

For those of you that are competitives that won't admit it was a great mode,

Do you at least sympathize with the majority of gamers that enjoyed and preferred the mode and want to see it return?

It took up 60% of the development time, money, effort, and focus.

I'd rather have like 15 more characters, 20 more stages, and tons more balance and content than have that stupid SSE back that basically nobody played twice.

Gone through it three times at least, soon to be more. I wouldn't really assert these kinds of statements so much. You'd be very very wrong.

That said, it did take up too much development time, which is the actual issue. A good balance while bringing back something as large would not actually be a bad thing. However, putting it in both would be very difficult given the fact there is actually two versions.

Also, I actually do like the SSE, just certain things are issues; The development time, the fact I can't erase the characters unlocked so I can unlock them another way(major replay value), the lack of Nintendo areas/enemies, and the fact it still didn't allow you to easily find Trophies, just craptons of stickers. :glare:

Interesting point about the development time, that perhaps is the reason their skipping it? Damn, was such a great mode... I'll really miss it...

I'm sure it plays a role, but Sakurai talked more about the cutscenes being thrown online as his reason for removing them. He wants people to view them by playing the game. I understand that in a way, since it's the artistic talent being appreciated the way you want it to.

Regardless, yeah, the development time is a big thing, and he knows Brawl was lacking in other areas, so he probably realized that even though he could do that, that'd require more time to do so(and he might not have the time or was given that high amount of time at all. He may be the developer, but Nintendo might've given him a due date. I'm doubt this a bit since he was allowed to push back Brawl. Twice. So...

Yea i remember reading that quote about the cut scenes, that kind of bummed me out... I thought it wasn't a great excuse.
Given the production time got extended with Brawl and the delays, i wonder if this time if he has to rush out the game... Which is a shame... I hope they do another mode like that someday... Was so well done..

We have a lot if topics on Subspace Emissary and how it isn't returning. While your opinion is appreciated on it, it doesn't need an additional thread.
