Hello, everyone.

I have many questions about PM and tournaments, etc...

First of all, if I've never played Melee of my life, can I still easily pick up PM?

Secondly, in official tournaments, are Gamecube controllers obligatory? Because I'm used to play with the Nunchuck and that I see that everyone in those tournaments are playing with GCN controllers.

Thirdly, must I be over 16 / 18 / 21 years old to participate to those tournaments? Because I'm 14 (almost 15) right now.

Finally, how can I enhance my skills with Mario (or with Brawl/PM in general)? Because, even after 5 years of playing Brawl, I still get my ass kicked online... and by my cousin... and by level 3 CPUs...

In conclusion, I've used "because" too much in this thread...

Thanks in advance!

Yes.

You can very much use a nunchuck and dominate the tourney scene. There are plenty of good players who play with nunchucks.

Thirdly, must I be over 16 / 18 / 21 years old to participate to those tournaments? Because I'm 14 (almost 15) right now.
As long as you have the money (unless it's free), I'm sure it doesn't matter. I've been to 2 under the ages you've specified.
Finally, how can I enhance my skills with Mario (or with Brawl/PM in general)? Because, even after 5 years of playing Brawl, I still get my *** kicked online... and by my cousin... and by level 3 CPUs...
Practice your fundamentals (spacing, movement, etc.) until you're used to the character. Playing computers can help you get used to character weights and such, but aren't really good real practice, as you may develop bad habits that only work on said CPUs. It's ideal that you try to play real people; and don't worry, losing is ideal to growth. Save some replays and watch them over again to learn your mistakes.

You can still easily pick up PM.
In tournament, it does not matter whether you use a GCC, CC/CC Pro, Nunchuck, etc.
Unless a tournament is held in a location such as a bar, there are no age requirements.
I would suggest going to the Mario boards in PM Character subforum and ask in there.

Check your regional area in the tournament section on SWF to see where tournaments are near you.

Yeah, I'm 14 years old and I'm one of the top players in DFW for projectm which is an extremely huge and strong scene.

Anyone can do it regardless of age and regardless of the game

I've seen some kids your age go to my local biweeklies.
Nothing stops them from going and they are certainly are able to compete with the older players.

It's more of mindset then age TBH.
