This post is cancer.The thing is that Smash 64 is incredibly archaic in a number of ways, to the point where it's not exactly the most stellar game anymore even taking nostalgia into account; playing the game as a little kid was cool, playing it now....it's sluggish, stiff and feels unnatural compared to later entries in the series which refined the formula immensely.
It was awesome back then, but now it's just so stiff in comparison to the more free-flowing combat of later games that it renders the game obsolete in a competetive sense. It was good as a base for later games to refine, but as it's own game it hasn't aged terribly well at all.
To be fair, at least, I'd play Smash 64 over most of the fanmade Smash games.

Why did I even think for a moment that Smash 64's fandom is at least a bit better than the rest? All of you just proved me wrong. Thank you.
I go in saying that Smash 64 is "accessible" (which I consider a GOOD THING) and their are a'holes being butthurt by that.
I'm still right about the entirety of the Smash community being as bad as the Sonic and Pony fandoms.

Yes, all 2 people in this thread that were butthurt by your post is enough to demonize the rest of the 64 community and compare them to bronies and sonic fans.

Whats wrong with sonic fans? I don't know much about either of those two communities so I'm guessing bronies are a bunch of pedophiles but how can sonic be a toxic community?

Also there's nothing wrong with the op. They brought up views and had rationale for those views. That's fine, and very few people got SOMAD. I disagree but idt it came off as booty blasted

I don't know how this got sidetracked so hard, but I love playing both 64 and melee in their own way.
I think 64 is pretty accessible. I went from playing friends to beating friends to going online all of which was pretty easy to do. The emulator for online is far less demanding than melee emulation so it was easy to get to play many other people of varying skills.

But yeah, though generalizations might have a kernel of truth to them they should always be taken with a grain of salt. It's always the few extreme people of a community that get well known and induce a misrepresentation of the whole community. Probably because they're the most vocal.
Smash 64 is no exception.
