I dunno, I use it for practice but I feel like I do better offline. I like what it offers a wide selection of players to practice and play against, but at the same time I feel like the game play isn't the same when I play on it.

Just in general while I do get wins on wifi, I feel like I didn't deserve them just like some of my losses.

It might be I lack consistency rather than wifi, but I do think I lack consistency in a lot of areas.

How does one improve consistency?

Well another thing I thought about was how much can people trust it. I do think that is can cause issues, but not to the point were anyone can win due to wifi. At one point I have beaten people who were in the top 32 on the AiB seasonal bracket, even if I felt like they were an overall better player than myself.

Dunno.

Wifi is garbage imo once you reach a certain level.

I still play it, but really only to learn matchups or just because i'm bored. There are people who I can 2-3 stock irl that play me on wifi and beat me all the time.

Now of course certain characters perform really well on Wifi, so you may be beating better players because they can't punish certain things that they can offline, can't powershield....etc.

If you're worried about consistency....than definitely should not be playing WiFi as it can actually affect how you play offline a little bit.

Wifi is not garbage the only promblem is lag and still with a good connection most matches it`s none extinct.the thing is that most player can`t reach a tournament or just don`t feel like going out of state it make`s wifi that much harder, so if lose you lose ( of couse exculding bad connection) and another thing too is that people who`s good on wifi is good offline if anything better. but there`s still no doubt lag makes you lose but hey so do the opponet

I wouldn't worry at all about how well you play on wi-fi, because as -Mars- said, it really is trash. Brawl online is almost literally a different game, so it's no wonder that you play better offline.

Play online for fun, but don't try to take anything serious from it, cause you'll just drive yourself up a wall.

How2: imporove consistancy on wifi

1) Ram the idea out of ones head that wifi requires a different playstyle and play THE EXACT SAME as you do offline. Dont resort to certain tactics which are safer on wifi.
2) By doing this, your playstyle will not randomly shift from your normal offline tactics towards times when you actually think to yourself 'oh yeah I should do this instead of that because im on wifi'.
3) Step up your prediction game. You MUST get better at predicting if you want to win on wifi. You can either abuse the enemies inability to predict by spamming safer-than-normal moves or learn it yourself and be able to defeat this playstyle.
4) Ultimately be more consistant because the other players get frustrated that their alternating playstyles arent working and resort to rather stupid tactics and make a lot more mistakes.

I play(ed) wifi a lot vs some of the best players in this country and I am VERY consistant. No matter where I am in a game, 2 stocks up or 2 stocks down, I know exactly what it takes to win and I play the same way I do offline. Its not like 'oh damn im losing, time to step up the spam until its even'. The amount of times I've brought hopeless matches into victories because the other player got complacent is ridiculous.

I see it ALL THE TIME. Characters like pikachu for example, I might have taken a lead and the other player gets frustrated and starts to spam wifi-safe attacks like dsmash. As long as you make a conscious effort to get better at prediction, it shouldnt be a problem. But when you find yourself behind in a match, dont fall into that trap. Marth is another good example. If you find yourself losing, throwing out more and more fsmashes because they are safer on wifi messes up your playstyle and it might be hard to revert to a normal strategy which works. For every 1 time fsmash spamming takes a stock, you probably could have KO'd them 3 times by being patient and playing like you would offline.

Now of course this is assuming that is the problem with your consistancy... Im not really saying it is, but I see this sort of problem with everyone I ever play wifi with who complains about a lack of consistancy.
