and, naturally, it doesn't work. But here is the exact problem (btw, the model is the older edition of the iPod Nano)...

Two days ago, as I was untangling my headphones to walk to class, the headphones untangled too rapidly and the iPod unlatched from the headphone jack. Falling about three feet, the ipod hit the tile floor. At first I thought it was fine; it was still on and didn't seem to be damaged in any way. However, as I went to change my song... the scroll wheel didn't work, nor did the clicker or hold switch. Plugging it into my iPod player later on, I found it could turn on when plugged in, and the screen could light up as well. But I still couldn't get a response from moving the wheel or clicking the clicker.

Now that I'm at my dad's house, where I can plug it into a computer, I found that the screen can still say the DO NOT DISCONNECT message and sync songs. However, upon unplugging, it stays on the frozen screen on the song where I dropped it for about two minutes.

I'm pretty sure that I somehow jammed the Hold switch. The hold icon (the lock) is displayed when I plug it into an electronic source. Toggling the switch does nothing.

I'm probably going to have to send it somewhere or get a new one, but I'm really not keen for either option. So I was wonder if anyone knew a way to correct the problem without sending it or replacing it...

(sorry if wrong room as well, didn't know quite where to post this one)

...I think you'll just have to replace it, honestly. Unless you know a good electronics shop nearby, in which THEY can fix it, that is.

ipods a known to need a fair bit of cae, or they do break easily. :(

I know I've only had mine for 3 months, and the headpones have already gone to hell. Rawr

Yeah, my dad changed an ipod shuffle (first gen) battery, but I think that's the highest degree of repairs you can do on an iPod, sorry, but you'll probably have to replace it, or get it fixed by a professional.

I have actually done quite a few iPod repairs. I can fix/replace hard drives, hold switches, LCD screens, batteries, hold switches, etc. Send my a PM if you're interested, I have much lower rates than Apple Stores or any other repair place I've seen.
