If any of the model's bones are disabled (renamed in the model) then it will affect how the animation is. For example, if the right elbow is disabled, if the right elbow moves/rotates in any of the animations, it will not because that bone is disabled (renamed). However, most textures are just aesthetic and do not affect the hurtbox/hitbox in any way. Things like a Sephiroth texture on Marth that increases the size of the sword will not actually increase his hit range because it is just editing the model's vertices and not the bone(s) itself.

ok, how do i put the bones back in/check if they're actually changed?
i put in a waluigi texture on luigi, and waluigi was huge and i couldnt hit a standing link with a sh uair, but i could with the normal luigi.

sometimes theres only a pcs file included, sometimes only a pac file. why is this, and what does the pac file do?

also how do i extract all of the normal brawl files from an iso?

ALSO, some skins make the game lag. is this primarily because of texture size or polygon count? is there a way for me to edit the skins to make them less taxing?

First, get BrawlBox. Then download one of the default character textures from brawl from http://www.tinyurl.com/brawlfiles Open the default brawl texture and your downloaded texture in BrawlBox. Expand the paths until it shows the model (.mdl0) bones. Compare each bone between the two files and if any are different between them, rename the changed bone in the custom texture to be what the default name for the bone is from the brawl texture.

If you only have a pac or a pcs, you can save the pac/pcs as the other type. E.g., open up FitLuigi00.pac and save it as FitLuigi00.pcs.

I have not heard of this happening before, so I would assume it is the amount of polygons on the custom model that causes the game to lag. You could report the custom texture on BrawlVault stating that it causes the game to lag and hopefully the person who made the texture can try and fix the lag.

actually bone hacks, prolly not vertex hacks. i just have no knowledge of 3d modeling lol
try using the one-slot size mod as freddy krueger for wolf. try using the latest dixie model for diddy: in PM her dtilt wont hit at all unless youre SUPER close
