Graphics may not as good as Mario Kart 8 but they are at a far higher resolution (1080p over double the pixels of 720p), which has great benefits of its own even if MK8 looks a little prettier.

I personally find them to be very good, though Mario Kart slightly outpaces it in a lot of ways, Smash looks really, really good for Wii U.

Some problems with how jagged models are and some outdated textures on stages, but the way the camera will be zoomed out and the amount of action occuring on screen remedies that. So really the graphics are amazing.

The graphics are no where near the level of Mario Kart 8's or what I expected, but oh well. They're still a step-up from Brawl.

Graphics are the last thing I care about in the new smash. It could look like ssb64 and I would still enjoy it if the gameplay is good.

Character models are great! Most stages could be better though along with the lighting.

I prefer the character models in this one over the previous games. Design wise, I am more than happy with sakurai's design choices.

Was gonna give it an 8, but I'll give it a 9, because it looks so much better in motion compared to screenshots. I just love how it's animated. In terms of animation, I'm more impressed by this than Mario Kart 8, but I suppose that's expected, as the only notable animations in that are the tricks.

9/10. Absolutely gorgeous, but it could still be even better. I was actually more impressed by Smash Bros. than I was Mario Kart 8.

9/10.

I voted with the mindset that they're good enough for what this game is. Obviously graphics can get a lot better but I really don't care when it comes to Smash Bros.

I'll give them a 9/10, they're not as good as they could be, but that's because the amount of content the game has as oppose to MK8.
It's really pleasing for the eyes in general and the art style (like Melee) will never get outdated.

7 I know it will amazing in motion but when you close up some stuff looks a bit bad. I think it will be polished more down the line.

I gave it an 8. Some animations are still a bit wonky, and others could be made smoother.
Zelda's hair passes through her body, and the Phantom Knight's slashes look rough; I think they'd be better if they linked more fluidly.

I hadn't noticed that on your signature, sunset Battlefield as a lens flare effect when the camera shines towards the sunset, the thought of Sunset Shores having that effect makes me salivate, I think this game doesn't look as gorgeous as MK8, but keep this in mind, Mario Kart 8's going for a more realistic approach at graphics, this new Smash makes the characters sorta look like cake, which I love :v and there's obviously some impressive light effects like the rim lightning on SMG, the lens flare on sunset Battlefield and the blue floor-glow on night Battlefield.

I was on the fence between 7 and 8, but went with 8. There is a lot of polish needed as there are still some very notable graphical failures (Toon Link and the Gust Bellows for example). That said, I like the brighter colors rather than Brawl's intentionally gritty style as the characters look truer to their original games this way.

The game looks beautiful, especially due to the fact that the characters aren't trying to look so realistic anymore. So much more colorful than Brawl, I can only imagine what Fountain of Dreams would look like if it returns.

While graphics aren't everything, I do hope they touch them up a bit before the game is released. I'm mostly talking about the character models when I say this but I think it can look better. Remember people like to pause these games during battles and take pictures of the action. So better quality character models are always a plus. I do prefer the artstyle they're using here over Brawl's and a lot of the animations look good, but it just doesn't impress me as much as say Mario Kart 8 or even Super Mario 3D World.

Some textures on characters look amazing, some do not. Some models have smoother polygons than others. It stinks because Snapshot mode is a big feature. I seriously doubt smoothing some polygons would affect framerate as these models seem to be mostly not that high-poly to begin with.

Some stage textures are also seriously muddy. I think both of these reasons are not design choices, but instead because of development incompetence. Rosalina's ears bother me. When I think of Mario and Luigi, I expect their noses to be perfectly round and hats not origami (same with their ears, too).

Overall I'm pretty happy with the models from Mario and Zelda series, and Samus. I think Toon Link couldn't look any better and I'm quite happy with his appearance. Same with Link even. I don't know why other models don't look up to par. ?

I guess that's my biggest gripe is some of the roster. Sure a lot of the stages don't look mindblowing, but that's given a pass as long as the characters look as they should. Overall they look much better than Brawl (they better), but I hope Sakurai and his team really go through with that "finishing up touches" thing.

Oh, and Fox is atrocious.

I think Fox looks just fine. Especially the smaller details like his blaster and teeth.

It's only really when I look at older images for a bit he looks like wood, although they are the really zoomed in images.

He looks unbelievably like clay. His fur is my only gripe. It needs less shine and more bump. :bluejump:
