Waluigi and Goku are two of the highly requested characters to be playable. One who should be playable, and one who should be an assist trophy and never playable.
Although Waluigi didn't become playable for Smash Ultimate and remained as an assist trophy (and got eliminated from being playable again), he still has a high chance of being playable in Smash 6. Plus, Piranha Plant coming before Waluigi may have seemed legit. Didn't Diddy Kong, Rosalina, and Bowser Jr. all become playable before Daisy? Peach became playable in Melee, and Wario became playable in Brawl. Ultimate is 3 generations after Melee, and 2 Generations after Brawl. And Daisy became playable in Ultimate, so there's still hope for Waluigi to be playable in Smash 6.
Now Goku on the other hand, has been officially deconfirmed for the entire Smash series. As Sakurai has stated that Only video game characters can be playable. But he didn't mention anything about non-video game assist trophies or spirits. In fact, from what I see, Sakurai doesn't seem to worry too much about non-video game appearances/references.
So although Goku will never be playable in Smash, he can still be an assist trophy or a spirit. And he merits to.
My question to you is how would you feel if Waluigi became playable in Smash 6, while Goku became an assist trophy. And why would you react that way? Plus, how would other fans react as well?
